Despite witnessing the tragic loss of his entire family in a violent encounter, Ruslaan emerges as a remarkably composed individual as he grows up. His transformation is greatly influenced by his adoption into the caring household of upright police officer Major Sameer (portrayed by Jagapathi Babu) and his affectionate wife. However, Ruslaan’s sole purpose in life is to serve his country at any cost and ultimately clear his tarnished name. Even if it means disobeying the directives of his immediate superior and RAW agent Mantra (played by Vidya Malvade) during critical missions and independently pursuing the most dangerous terrorists.

Ruslaan

Director Karan L Butani’s primary emphasis appears to be on showcasing the heroic feats of his protagonist, regardless of the circumstances. From Ruslaan’s grand entrance to the climactic showdown, the screenplay glorifies him as the individual capable of overcoming all obstacles. The film’s narrative, penned by Yunus Sajawal, Mohit Srivastava, and Kavin Dave, is rife with stylized action and unexpected twists, although some may find them more implausible than unpredictable. This provides ample opportunity to showcase meticulously choreographed action sequences and stunts by Vikram Dahiya and Dinesh Subbarayan. While suspense is skillfully maintained throughout, the ultimate revelation in the end falls short of expectations.

Aayush Sharma performs commendably in action sequences but falls short in delivering convincing emotional depth as Ruslaan. His portrayal struggles to convey the internal conflicts of the character, hindering full audience connection to Ruslaan’s personal journey. Debutant Sushrii Shreya Mishraa, portraying Ruslaan’s love interest Vani, also shines in intense action scenes. The screenplay maintains a steady pace, though interrupted by a few unnecessary songs. The film offers numerous thrilling sequences across both halves, yet Ruslaan and his accomplice’s ability to navigate through harrowing situations lacks believability due to a lack of depth and simplicity in execution.

Jagapathi Babu is well-suited to his role as a principled police officer and caring father figure to Ruslaan, but the character’s development and writing lack conviction. The film leans heavily into patriotic themes, adding emotional resonance but sometimes feels contrived or overly simplistic. G. Sreenivas Reddy’s cinematography is slick and polished.

In conclusion, ‘Ruslaan’ prioritizes mass appeal with its action-packed narrative, albeit at the expense of logical coherence. It’s a formulaic action film that provides intermittent entertainment for those who favor adrenaline-fueled excitement over intricate plots.
