Dobaaraa Story :-
In the stormy backdrop of the 1990s, tragedy strikes as 12-year-old Anay meets his untimely demise in a road accident. His death is entangled with the sinister secrets of his next-door neighbor, who is implicated in his wife’s murder. Fast forward twenty-five years later, Antara, a nurse residing in Pune, steps into Anay’s former abode with her husband. Little does she know, the eerie parallels between her present and Anay’s past are about to unravel.

As another tempestuous night descends upon the city, Antara finds herself inexplicably drawn to an old TV set in the house. Through a strange twist of fate, she begins communicating with Anay, whose life she seeks to alter. However, her attempts at intervention unwittingly set off a chain reaction of events, altering the fabric of her reality in unforeseen ways.
The storyline unfolds with the abduction and savage murder of a prominent surgeon within the city. As the investigation unfolds, we are introduced to Badra Thangavel (Amala Paul), an adept pathologist who joins forces with Assistant Commissioner Vishal (Harish Uthaman) to crack the case. Concurrently, attention is drawn to a prisoner named Vetri (Thrigun), who had previously declared his intent to kill the surgeon by sketching his likeness on the walls of his cell. With Vetri’s ominous proclamation coming to fruition, authorities are compelled to interrogate him, unveiling layers of complexity within the case.
Anurag Kashyap’s adaptation of the Spanish film Mirage, titled Do Baaraa, weaves a complex narrative that oscillates between past and present. The story is anchored by Anay’s tragic demise and Antara’s quest to rewrite history. With meticulous editing by Aarti Bajaj, the film keeps viewers engaged, though the runtime may test their patience towards the end.
Nihit Bhave’s screenplay and dialogue strike a delicate balance, seamlessly blending the essence of the original film with Indian sensibilities. The characters are well-defined, with subtle nuances adding depth to their arcs. Taapsee Pannu and Pavail Gulati deliver compelling performances, breathing life into their respective roles and anchoring the film with their chemistry.
While Dobaaraa delivers as a gripping thriller, some may feel it falls short of the heightened expectations associated with Kashyap and Pannu’s collaboration. Nonetheless, the film’s intricacies and suspense ensure it’s a worthwhile watch, demanding the audience’s full attention from start to finish. So, settle in with your popcorn, but be prepared to be swept away by the stormy tale of Dobaaraa.
