Trigger Warning (Netflix) Review :-
Trigger Warning (Netflix) ‘Trigger Warning’ presents a compelling premise: a woman unravels the mystery behind her father’s suspicious death. Despite its polished action scenes, the film feels somewhat predictable due to its formulaic script. Nevertheless, the desert setting and intense action sequences maintain viewer engagement. Jessica Alba shines in a role reminiscent of ‘Kill Bill,’ skillfully wielding her falchion and firearms with charisma. Making a comeback after five years, Alba’s performance is a highlight. While ‘Trigger Warning’ follows a familiar formula, it delivers consistent entertainment over its 90-minute runtime.
The story kicks off with Parker (Jessica Alba), a Special Forces Commando, involved in a counter-terrorism mission in Syria’s desert. Upon receiving news of her father’s death, she returns to her hometown in the desert. During a confrontation thwarting a robbery, Parker discovers an illegal automatic weapon, sparking her suspicion of illicit activities in her community. As she gathers evidence, she becomes increasingly convinced that her father’s death was no accident. Her suspicions are confirmed when she uncovers a conspiracy involving the theft of military weapons from a nearby depot. Further investigation leads her to uncover the involvement of Senator Swann (Anthony Michael Hall) and his sons, including Jesse (Mark Webber), who also serves as the town’s sheriff. Determined to bring her father’s killers to justice, Parker embarks on a relentless mission to take down the corrupt Swann family.
This action-thriller moves at a brisk pace, marking Indonesian director Mouly Surya’s English-language cinema debut. While lacking depth and nuance, it offers mindless entertainment. The screenplay swiftly establishes Jessica Alba’s character within the first ten minutes, setting the film’s tone. Alba excels in the action scenes, delivering a solid performance. Among the supporting cast, Gabriel Basso as Mike stands out, leaving a lasting impression. Anthony Michael Hall brings menace to his portrayal of Senator Swann, though his character feels underdeveloped.
‘Trigger Warning’ admittedly suffers from a weak script, yet it’s the kind of film perfect for a casual watch. It’s a guilty pleasure that swiftly begins and concludes without taxing your brain. With its rapid action and engaging fight sequences, it provides sufficient entertainment to keep viewers engaged.
