The film boldly challenges gender norms by placing two women in the cockpit of a fighter plane, defying traditional gender roles and stereotypes. Tejas and Afia are portrayed as intelligent, courageous, and resourceful individuals whose skills and bravery serve as their primary weapons in the face of adversity. Director Sarvesh Mewara deserves credit for subverting gender expectations and presenting a narrative where women take center stage in a male-dominated domain.

However, while the film’s progressive portrayal of its female protagonists is commendable, it occasionally veers into the realm of exaggeration and melodrama. Instances such as Tejas engaging in physical combat with a male pilot or facing off against tribal assailants feel forced and detract from the authenticity of the narrative. Additionally, the nonlinear storytelling format, with frequent shifts between past and present timelines, can be disorienting for viewers, undermining the coherence of the plot.

Nevertheless, “Tejas” shines in its action sequences, showcasing thrilling aerial maneuvers and intense combat scenes. Director of Photography Hari K Vedantam captures the adrenaline-fueled moments with finesse, creating visually stunning sequences that elevate the film’s appeal. Kangana Ranaut delivers a compelling performance as Tejas, effortlessly embodying the role of a fighter pilot with conviction and charisma. Anshul Chauhan impresses as Tejas’s supportive co-pilot, bringing depth and authenticity to her character.

The film’s musical score, composed by Shashwat Sachdev, adds to the cinematic experience, with tracks like “Jaan Da” and “Ranjhana” resonating with audiences. However, the parallel narrative of an impending terrorist attack feels somewhat disjointed from the main plotline, diluting the film’s focus and detracting from its impact.

In conclusion, “Tejas” offers a refreshing take on patriotism and female empowerment in the context of the Indian armed forces. While its portrayal of strong, independent women breaking barriers is laudable, the film could benefit from a more cohesive screenplay and tighter narrative structure. Nevertheless, for fans of patriotic cinema and defense dramas, “Tejas” remains a captivating and engaging watch, showcasing the indomitable spirit of those who serve their nation with courage and valor.
