Namacool Review :-
‘NamaCool’ promises an exciting and fast-paced ride, but its reliance on clichés and absurdity undermines its potential, resulting in a series filled with nonsensical situations and crude humor. The forced comedic elements and lackluster performances detract from the overall quality of the show. From improbable scenarios like a man accidentally stumbling into a store selling toilet seats to a student falling for the Dean’s wife, the series is riddled with implausible events that strain credibility.
At its core, the story follows best friends Mayank (Abhinav Sharma) and Piyush (Aaron Arjun Koul) navigating college life in Lucknow. Their lives take an unexpected turn when they encounter Chakku Pandey (Abhishek Bajaj), a local goon known for his daring exploits. Mayank forms an unlikely bond with Chakku and even assumes the role of administrator for his WhatsApp group. Meanwhile, Piyush finds himself enamored with Rubiya (Hina Khan), the wife of the college Dean. Tensions escalate when the local MLA demands that the Dean organize student elections, leading Chakku Pandey to intervene to ensure compliance.
‘NamaCool’ takes significant creative liberties and relies heavily on contrived scenarios to drive its humor and intrigue. Throughout the series, forced elements are inserted into the screenplay to elicit laughter, often resulting in innuendos and exaggerated situations. For instance, scenes such as an employee at a sanitary ware store enthusiastically praising a toilet seat or Minty, Chakku Pandey’s girlfriend, using a ‘human pole’ for a social media reel, are examples of the series’ reliance on exaggerated humor.
Abhinav Sharma’s portrayal of Mayank seems to channel a Shah Rukh Khan-esque charm, which may become tiresome for some viewers. Aaron Arjun Koul’s performance as Piyush is adequate but doesn’t stand out. However, the supporting cast, including Shayank Shukla as Samarth and Abhishek Bajaj as Chakku Pandey, bring depth to their characters. Hina Khan as Rubiya and Anushka Kaushik as Minty contribute to the series’ appeal with their charismatic performances.
Despite its comedic intentions, ‘NamaCool’ struggles to deliver consistent humor, often falling flat with its attempts. The series may require viewers to overlook its flaws to fully enjoy it. While it offers moments of genuine hilarity, they are few and far between, with much of the humor feeling unintentional and exaggerated.
