House of Lies (Zee5) Review :-

‘House of Lies’ fails to deliver anything groundbreaking. Instead, it tends to drag, occasionally eliciting wry smiles in its attempts, which ultimately fall short, to grip viewers with its mystery-thriller premise. While the film’s concept isn’t entirely novel, its execution and foreseeable storyline detract from the overall viewing experience.

The narrative unfolds with the suspicious demise of Albert Pinto (the late Rituraj K Singh), discovered the morning following his birthday celebration. Investigators Rajveer Singh Choudhary (portrayed by Sanjay Kapoor) and Abhay (played by Hiten Paintal), along with Officer Sashi (embodied by Simran Kaur Suri) from the Enforcement Directorate, commence interrogating family members and other attendees of the party. The plot swiftly shifts focus to Rajveer, renowned for his swift case resolutions. He immerses himself in the inquiry, meticulously examining every aspect, including Albert’s past and potential involvement in cryptocurrency dealings.

The narrative suffers from shallow characterizations. However, its singular focus on uncovering Albert’s fate prevents unnecessary diversions. Yet, the portrayal of police procedures is notably lacking, with officers neglecting basic protocols like wearing gloves. Moreover, the pervasive shaky camera work detracts from the viewing experience.

Sanjay Kapoor and Hiten Paintal deliver adequate performances as the investigators, but Simran Kaur Suri’s portrayal of Officer Sashi feels flat, fixating excessively on Albert’s cryptocurrency earnings. The late Rituraj K Singh’s role as Albert is brief, given his character’s demise early in the film. Regrettably, the remaining ensemble cast, including Albert’s relatives and associates, lack depth, reducing them to mere stereotypes.

Director Saumitra Singh’s direction fails to captivate the audience, lacking the finesse needed for engagement. Fortunately, the film’s brevity, clocking in at 82 minutes, spares viewers from prolonged exposure to this amateurish murder mystery.
