Amidst the legal turmoil, Govinda’s marriage is crumbling. Gauri dominates him, and despite his attempts to seek divorce, she demands a hefty sum of Rs. 2 crores as dowry repayment. Meanwhile, Govinda finds solace in an extramarital affair with Suku, portrayed by Kiara Advani, who shares his passion for dance. Suku, however, grows weary of Govinda’s problems and urges him to leave his wife.
As Govinda’s life spirals out of control, he purchases a gun from Inspector Javed, played by Dayanand Shetty, with whom he has a pending payment dispute. Despite acquiring the weapon, Govinda lacks the courage to use it against his wife.
A glimmer of hope appears when Govinda and Suku are offered a lucrative opportunity to choreograph a music video for Sandeep Dharkar, the son of a powerful politician, Ajit Dharkar. However, the shoot doesn’t go as planned, and they incur substantial financial losses. Instead of payment, Ajit demands reimbursement for the expenses incurred, further exacerbating Govinda’s predicament.
The narrative navigates through various twists and turns, with Shashank Khaitan’s direction seamlessly portraying the complexity of Govinda’s life. While some plot points are implausible and certain characters lack depth, the film’s fast-paced narrative keeps the audience engaged. Performances by Vicky Kaushal, Kiara Advani, and Bhumi Pednekar shine, despite shortcomings in character development and dialogue.
The film’s music, particularly the energetic choreography of “Bijli,” adds vibrancy to the storytelling. Vidushi Tiwari’s cinematography captures the essence of Mumbai, enhancing the film’s authenticity. Despite its flaws, Govinda Naam Mera offers moments of comedy and thrill, making it a compelling watch overall.
