Faisal Malik, who has gained immense fame for his portrayal of Prahlad in “Panchayat,” revealed that he was once removed from an Amitabh Bachchan project simply for being honest.
In the third season of the TVF series “Panchayat,” Prahlad has left the entire internet emotional. While the character is well-written, Faisal Malik’s exceptional performance has brought it to life on screen. Before stepping into mainstream acting, Faisal worked behind the scenes. It was during this period that he was shown the door from an Amitabh Bachchan project.
Why was Faisal Malik ousted from a Big B project?
In an interview with The Lallantop, Faisal Malik revealed that his first meeting with Amitabh Bachchan happened while working on a show with Anurag Kashyap. Malik shared, “I was half excited because I was getting to meet Bachchan sahab. As soon as I saw him, I thought to hell with the work and presented my copy to him for an autograph.”
Malik praised Amitabh Bachchan’s hospitality, noting that the food kept coming, and one couldn’t finish one dish before another was presented. He recalled mentioning to Bachchan that he was from Allahabad, which led to Bachchan offering him sesame laddus (til ke laddu).
“I thought he wouldn’t be able to eat it because of his age. Sorry, I shouldn’t say this. But when the laddus arrived, he ate two before me. I thought he was lying about his age; he is still very much young,” Malik shared.
The “Gangs of Wasseypur” actor further shared an incident where the man narrating to Amitabh Bachchan was overconfident, and Bachchan quickly pointed out a mistake on page 62. Faisal Malik revealed, “He remembered all 120 pages of the script. He didn’t even have to look at the script to point out the mistake.”
When Bachchan asked Faisal, “When do you think we should shoot this?” Malik, opting for honesty, replied, “Sir, we shouldn’t shoot this now. We should shoot this after six months.” Faisal recalled that as he was leaving the meeting, he was told, “You don’t work on this project. You leave it,” because he spoke the truth.
