Dus June Kii Raat (JioCinema) Review :-
Based on Santosh Pathak’s novel Dus June Ki Raat, the show initially promised a captivating mix of humor and suspenseful crime thriller. However, after a few episodes, it devolves into a TV serial drama that feels implausible, lacking both humor and engagement. Even the actors struggle to escape their established TV personas.
The story centers on Bhagyesh (Tusshar Kapoor), derisively nicknamed Panouti (bad luck) in Raniganj. Born on the day of his father’s death and coinciding with the closure of his father’s beloved single-screen theatre, Menka, Panouti is convinced that reviving this legacy is his only path to changing his fortunes. Joined by his cousin Battu (Shaan Groverr), he embarks on a journey fraught with unexpected twists, turns, and echoes of a haunting past.
Dus June Kii Raat (JioCinema) Trailor :-
Panouti’s life takes a promising turn when he connects with Puppy (Priyanka Chahar Choudhary) through an online marriage platform. Her presence appears to bring a stroke of good luck, enabling Panouti to pursue reopening the theatre. However, their newfound hope is shattered when a mysterious girl’s dead body is discovered in the theatre. The series centers on Panouti’s struggle to navigate this crisis and unravel the true reasons behind his notorious nickname.
Tusshar Kapoor grapples with embodying the misadventure-prone protagonist, with his comedic timing and romantic scenes falling flat due to mismatched dialogues and uninspired execution. Priyanka Chahar Choudhary, making her OTT debut, gives a competent performance, though her character’s arc lacks strong development in the writing. Shaan Groverr performs reasonably well as Panouti’s main source of support.
Directed by Tabrez Khan, Dus June Kii Raat is a fast-paced series that often becomes muddled by excessive plot twists and underdeveloped characters. The 12-episode season concludes with a cliffhanger, hinting at a second season while leaving the central mystery unresolved.
