Bestseller Story:-
In the realm of Young Adult (YA) literature, Tahir Wazir’s debut novel initially seems to be a misstep in his career journey. However, redemption arrives with his second venture, which emerges as a resounding success: a bold reinterpretation of Sant Kabir’s ‘Raand Saand Seedi Sanyasi’. Yet, amidst a world teeming with mystique and enigma, questions arise about the saintliness of the protagonist and the eerie hashtags attached to his name. ‘Bestseller’ endeavors to emulate the triumph of its source material, ‘The BestSeller She Wrote’ by Ravi Subramanian, but it has yet to traverse a considerable distance before reaching such heights.

In ‘Bestseller,’ when a distressed maiden knocks on the door of acclaimed author Tahir Wazir, he answers the call, propelled by his ego and arrogance. Meetu Mathur, with her quaint small-town charm and unwavering devotion to Tahir, becomes entangled in his life, swiftly transitioning from his doorstep to his bedroom. Meanwhile, Tahir’s wife, Mayanka, finds herself drawn to Parth Acharya, her intern, blurring the lines of fidelity. As complex relationships unravel, deceit and malice lurk beneath the surface, leaving the audience to discern who is the player and who is the pawn. Ravi Subramanian’s gripping thriller finds its way to Amazon Prime Video, yet fails to faithfully translate the essence of its literary origins. The allure of thrillers lies in their ability to cloak the future in uncertainty, captivating audiences with each twist and turn. Unfortunately, ‘Bestseller’ falters in maintaining this suspense, offering early glimpses into the inevitable descent into chaos. Furthermore, the background score, a crucial component in building tension, fails to leave a lasting impact, diminishing the overall atmospheric quality of the series.
Despite these shortcomings, the performances of the cast elevate the narrative. Shruti Haasan sheds her glamorous image to embody the role of Meetu Mathur with sincerity and depth. Arjan Bajwa’s portrayal of Tahir Wazir captures the essence of a man consumed by his ego and ambition, gradually unraveling as the story unfolds. However, certain characters, such as ACP Pramanik portrayed by Mithoon Chakraborty, lack the gravitas needed to command the screen, while Satyajeet Dubey’s portrayal of Parth feels somewhat out of place in the dark, psychological milieu of the series.
At its core, ‘Bestseller’ is a moral treatise on the subjective nature of truth, urging viewers to question the validity of every narrative. However, the execution falls short of delivering this message with the nuance and depth it deserves. Despite its flaws, ‘Bestseller’ remains a compelling watch, offering glimpses into the complexities of human nature and the murky waters of ambition and deception.
