Ziam (Netflix) Review :-
A new zombie movie in today’s market is hardly groundbreaking, given how much the genre has been explored—and overexplored—over the years. This film delivers a heavily action-packed story set against the familiar backdrop of a zombie apocalypse. On paper, the concept is intriguing: watching a skilled fighter take on these superhuman, man-eating monsters has plenty of potential. The movie even starts strong, painting a bleak picture of a world already in turmoil—before the zombie outbreak even begins.
The story follows Singh, a man struggling to survive in a post-apocalyptic world where food scarcity has become the norm. People scavenge and fight relentlessly, even over insects, just to find some form of nutrition. Amid this chaos, a man named Vasu offers hope with a breakthrough: a type of fish that can be eaten raw, promising a lasting solution to the food crisis. But instead of relief, the experiment only worsens humanity’s already desperate plight.
The film leans heavily into action, with its brooding male lead often opting for physical confrontation rather than conversation to wrestle with his inner turmoil. This choice lends Singh a rugged intensity but comes at the cost of emotional complexity and character growth. While the action scenes are competently choreographed, they lack a distinctive style or creative spark that could have made them stand out.
Beyond the action, the plot unfolds in a very predictable manner, sticking closely to familiar genre tropes. There are few, if any, surprises or twists to keep the audience guessing—I found myself anticipating most of the major developments, including the ending, well ahead of time.
The film’s strongest asset, however, lies in its performances. The actors truly committed to their roles, with the actress portraying Rin standing out for her heartfelt portrayal of desperation and emotion. The child actor also delivered a standout performance, bringing a touching innocence to the story that made me root for his survival more than anyone else.

What stood out most to me was the natural and thoughtful way romance was woven into a world that feels hopeless from the start. While it might seem like a risky choice, it surprisingly works beautifully. I found the connections between the two main characters—and also between Vasu and his wife—genuinely convincing. One of the film’s most powerful moments is Vasu’s sacrifice and his unwavering decision to stay by his ailing wife’s side, no matter the circumstances.
Final Thought
All in all, this is a fairly mediocre and straightforward zombie movie that offers nothing new to the genre. It lacks any distinctive elements to set it apart from countless other zombie films, which makes it ultimately forgettable.
