Centered on a botched robbery that spirals disastrously for the criminals and featuring a mysterious man with a captivating presence, the series immerses you in the thrill of the chase while exploring complex moral questions.
The uncertainty in the first two episodes, the secret pact among the bus passengers, and the enigma surrounding the man who saved their lives create compelling content. Viewers are left to ponder whether this mystery figure deserves to escape unscathed for saving six lives, or if the act of killing three people, regardless of the circumstances, warrants consequences. The series actively engages the audience in this moral debate, prompting you to consider what you would do in such a situation alongside the characters. These intense moments are expertly crafted, ensuring that the thrill remains palpable throughout each scene.
However, You Would Do It Too loses momentum after the first two episodes. As we start to piece together the identity of the charismatic shooter, the series takes a dreary turn, focusing on his backstory, which, while possibly necessary, detracts from the tension established earlier. This shift from the eyewitnesses to following this mystery figure trying to evade capture diminishes the thrill of the chase, leaving us with detectives attempting to stay one step ahead of the suspect.
I also found the detectives to be somewhat inadequate in their roles. Fran and Rebeca, burdened by a complicated past, constantly bicker, with Rebeca undermining Fran at every turn. Fran rarely raises his voice and often gets overshadowed by his partner. Additionally, Rebeca comes across as rigid, unwilling to acknowledge that situations can have nuances, viewing everything in black and white, which further complicates their dynamic.
