Yellow Review :-

Some films arrive quietly and still manage to leave an impression. Yellow is one of those understated gems—a travel-romance that leans on familiar soul-searching tropes but carries them with enough sincerity to avoid feeling clichéd. Aadhirai (Poornima Ravi) feels trapped. Her boyfriend Santhosh (Sai Prasanna) constantly urges her toward higher studies and career advancement, while her father’s stroke anchors her to the pressures of reality and financial strain. She takes a stifling bank job that only deepens her sense of stagnation. A conversation with her ailing father sparks a revelation: life happens in the present, memories endure, and perhaps it’s time to stop overthinking everything.

Enter the Kerala trip, prompted by a visit to her lively friend Jenny (Namita Krishnamurthy), who hands Aadhirai a scooty and urges her to explore. What follows is a journey from Kochi to Varkala, hopping between hostels teeming with vibrant characters. She meets Sai (Vaibhav Murugesan), a wanderer on what he claims is his last trip—and the same man who bought a bike on EMI from Aadhirai’s bank, ignoring her furious calls about unpaid loans. His carefree spontaneity sharply contrasts with her cautious demeanor. Along the way, there’s Kalyani (Leela Samson), an older solo traveler sharing tales of lost love; a whimsical hostel warden with a quirky accent; and Sai’s friend Mani (Prabhu Solomon), whose creative profanities serve as his peculiar language of affection. Each encounter chips away at Aadhirai’s carefully built shell.

The film centers Aadhirai’s journey around a search for someone named Chota, tied to her childhood and a woman she once considered family. It serves as a believable reason for her extended absence from work. The eventual revelation lands with a surprising elegance, weaving the story’s threads together without feeling forced. Along the way, there are moments of new-agey philosophizing that can occasionally feel heavy-handed, but more often than not, the film earns its emotional moments.

Yellow Trailor :-

Hari Mahadevan’s direction keeps the film grounded despite its meandering premise. Poornima Ravi anchors the story with subtle, convincing work, portraying a woman learning to breathe again, while Vaibhav Murugesan adds warmth without tipping into manic-pixie territory. The opening segment, depicting Aadhirai’s stifled life, feels formulaic and uneven, struggling to match the energy of the journey that follows. At times, the background score overpowers the dialogue.

The film is flawed and occasionally slow, leaning heavily into its “follow your heart” ethos. Yet it’s also unexpectedly genuine, filled with characters who make the time spent with them worthwhile.
