Wicked - For Good Review :-

The film opens with a visually striking sequence: a bright yellow brick road being laid, animals exploited by Oz’s forces, and the Wicked Witch of the West swooping in to save them, immediately establishing its tone. Now vilified, Elphaba fights a lonely battle to reveal the Wizard of Oz (Jeff Goldblum) as a fraud with no real powers. Her attempts are quickly blocked by Madame Morrible (Michelle Yeoh) and the Wizard, who coerce Glinda the Good into spreading messages of positivity while preserving the illusion of harmony in Oz. This central conflict drives the story, but the narrative branches into several subplots — including Elphaba’s estranged sister Nessarose (Marissa Bode) rising as governor of Munchkinland, her tangled relationship with Boq, and an unforeseen accident that sets off a chain of events, ultimately forcing Elphaba and Glinda to face each other once more.

Director Jon M. Chu’s film is rich with storylines and multiple dramatic arcs. Visually, it is striking, particularly in the contrast between Elphaba’s dark, brooding forest hideouts and Glinda’s bright, pastel-hued Emerald City palace. CGI creatures—from flying monkeys to early incarnations of characters like the Tin Man—add flair, while elaborate set pieces such as Emerald City, Kiamo Ko castle, and Elphaba’s refuge give the film an impressive sense of scale. The narrative also engages with compelling themes: exploitation, manipulation of public perception, the pressures of maintaining appearances, and the ways insecurities can shape people. Yet the loose storytelling and uneven direction sometimes prevent the film from being consistently enchanting. Many musical numbers fail to resonate, with a few standout exceptions, including No Good Deed, As Long as You’re Mine, and the emotional For Good.

Cynthia Erivo is the film’s undeniable standout, bringing remarkable depth to the Wicked Witch of the West with a perfect blend of strength and integrity. She captivates in every scene, whether confronting foes, showing tenderness, exploring romance, or unleashing fiery intensity. Ariana Grande shines as Glinda—friend, rival, and ally—delivering a vibrant performance that captures the character’s charm, vulnerability, and quiet ambition. Their chemistry is a highlight, electrifying moments from the playful duel to the soaring finale where they reaffirm their bond.

Wicked - For Good Trailor :-

Characterisation is one of the film’s strongest elements, with Michelle Yeoh captivating as the calculating Madame Morrible, Jonathan Bailey exuding confidence as Fiyero, and both Marissa Bode and Jeff Goldblum delivering memorable, impactful performances.

Final Thought

Wicked: For Good is worth seeing once for its visually stunning and captivating moments, though uneven pacing and occasional monotony keep it from reaching the heights it strives for.
