Waack Girls (AmazonPrimeVideo) Review :-

In Prime Video’s Waack Girls, we follow a group of dancers navigating the ups and downs of their lives as they strive to make it in the entertainment industry with their unique, new-age dance form that leaves everyone around them in awe. Facing challenging home lives, the girls find themselves in difficult situations while discovering the true meaning of friendship and support.

Waack Girls is an engaging series, where the emotional highs and lows serve as the foundation, keeping us deeply connected to its characters. The story centers on Ishani, whose Alzheimer-stricken grandfather becomes the emotional core of the group. Veteran actor Barun Chanda delivers a standout performance in this role, leaving a lasting impression in every scene. Whether in his vulnerable moments or when he commands those around him with conviction and clarity, his character is impossible not to care for, evoking empathy both from the other characters and the audience.

At the heart of the series is the authenticity of the girls’ friendship, and it’s this bond that drives much of the story. The show features a mix of realistic and humorous moments that build our trust in their relationship. Though they start off on shaky ground, the development of their connections feels natural and organic. The personal struggles each character faces as they try to live on their own terms in a society that suppresses individuality will resonate with many viewers. While some of these issues are only touched upon, the emotional depth remains powerful.

Of course, the standout element of the series is the dance, and I was captivated by the strength and passion of these women’s performances. Each of them is incredibly talented, and whenever a dance sequence unfolds on screen, it’s impossible not to be drawn in. Given that waacking is a dance style many of us might not be familiar with, the series does an excellent job of introducing it and incorporating it into the girls’ journey. While there are moments that remind you of other films in this genre, those familiarities don’t diminish the series’ appeal.

Waack Girls (AmazonPrimeVideo) Trailor :-

In many ways, Waack Girls feels like a story we’ve seen before. The journey to success, the pressure of making it big, the personal conflicts within the group, and the exploration of something new and unfamiliar are all familiar tropes. Some scenes feel so reminiscent of other shows that it might leave you with a sense of déjà vu. This predictability somewhat weakens the series, as you often know exactly what’s coming next, which can diminish the excitement. However, the show maintains a good pace, with engaging subplots that balance the struggles and triumphs, keeping it interesting without being too frustrating.

Newcomer Mekhola Bose commands attention with her electrifying dance performances. While her acting may not be as consistent throughout the series, her presence as a dancer is captivating. The other girls, however, are more consistent both as actors and dancers, and they all shine in their moments, especially during the intense dance battle scenes. It’s fair to say the dance sequences are the standout highlight of the series and will leave you mesmerized. Lastly, Rytasha Rathore delivers a fantastic performance as Lopa, adding a layer of complexity to the otherwise straightforward narrative.

Final Thought

While Waack Girls can be a bit repetitive at times, it remains thoroughly entertaining. The series effectively captures the girls’ struggles and triumphs, with the dance sequences being a standout feature. Barun Chanda certainly shines as the highlight of the show, but I was also pleasantly surprised by how authentically the series portrays Bengali culture, especially in terms of language. Unlike many shows set in Kolkata, where characters often speak in Hindi, most—if not all—of the characters here speak fluent Bengali, which adds to the authenticity. Ultimately, the series keeps you engaged, and with its short runtime, it makes for excellent binge-worthy content.
