Vikkatakavi, written by Saitej Deshraj, is a period drama set in a small village cursed by a mysterious force. The story follows a small-time detective as he uncovers secrets and unravels the curse over the course of six gripping episodes.
While the premise may seem straightforward, director Pradeep Maddali’s adaptation brings it to life in a captivating way. From the very first frame, Vikkatakavi draws viewers in with its intriguing storyline and tight narration. Each 35-minute episode ends with a compelling hook, and though the pace is slow, it is expertly maintained through a suspenseful screenplay.
Maddali skillfully creates an engaging narrative, extracting deep drama from the characters. One of the series’ standout elements is its production design, which feels authentic and enhances the immersive atmosphere. The mystery behind the villagers’ memory loss when they enter the Nallamala Forest is presented in a thrilling, captivating manner that keeps viewers hooked.
Vikkatakavi first three episodes are particularly strong, filled with suspense and unexpected twists. Director Maddali skillfully weaves the hero’s backstory into the central plot, ensuring the narrative remains tight and focused. Vikkatakavi gives him ample opportunity to shine, and his composed portrayal is one of the show’s key highlights. Megha Akash, in a strong supporting role, impresses with her screen presence and looks striking in traditional attire.
Shiju Menon’s performance adds significant depth to the narrative, while Raghu Kunche steals the spotlight as the antagonist. Having started as a TV anchor and music director, Raghu demonstrates his acting talent with an intense portrayal of the villain. Mukthar Khan as Azam Khan and Tarak Ponnappa in a key role also deliver commendable performances, enhancing the story further.
