Unstoppable (AmazonPrimeVideo) Review :-
Anthony Robles’s story is incredibly inspiring, showcasing the profound struggles he faced both personally and professionally. His journey is likely to resonate deeply with viewers, evoking tears and providing the motivation needed to persevere. Therefore, William Goldenberg’s Unstoppable was already armed with a compelling narrative; their task was simply to tell it effectively.

Premiering on Prime Video this January, the film is a poignant and heartwarming experience that, despite its strengths, falls short in several aspects. It successfully garners empathy for Anthony, his young siblings, and his struggling mother. Throughout the film, you find yourself pitying him, first for his disability and then for his challenging circumstances. This approach raises questions about the portrayal of a heroic and capable athlete. At times, the film’s tone feels oddly preachy and can be grating, leaving viewers uncertain of its narrative direction.

Unstoppable leans more towards drama than a straightforward sports biography, tracing Anthony’s journey with dramatic flair, extracting every ounce of emotion from his story. While not commenting on the factual accuracy, the film deeply engages viewers, particularly in depicting Anthony’s home life. The palpable chemistry and tension within his household effectively evoke emotions throughout.
One of the film’s highlights is the portrayal of Anthony’s relationships—with his stepfather, mother, and the tender bond he shares with her. These dynamics add depth to the narrative, alongside Anthony’s inspiring wrestling journey. The performances, especially within Anthony’s home, are commendable and compelling, making it easy to root for his success. Bobby Cannavale brings a menacing presence, instilling fear, while Jennifer Lopez delivers a warm and tender portrayal of Anthony’s mother trapped in an abusive relationship. The interactions with his younger siblings further enrich the film with warmth and tension alike.

Final Thought
I find Unstoppable to be quite inspirational and somewhat entertaining, although it can be a bit grating at times. The film feels overly long to me, but it’s the exceptional performances, particularly from the phenomenal Jharrel Jerome, that hold your attention.
“Unstoppable” is now streaming on AmazonPrimeVideo.
