Umjolo: There Is No Cure (Netflix) Review :-

The plot of the film centers around a former pageant queen who finds herself embroiled in a scandal, leaving her in a difficult situation. To set things right, she decides to write a memoir and reaches out to her favorite author for help. What begins as a professional meeting soon turns into something more as the two develop unexpected feelings for each other. But will they be able to confront their emotions?

I have to say, this is one of the better (if not the best) films I’ve watched in this anthology so far—especially after the previous film, which was nearly a disaster. This rom-com is much stronger, and I love how everything falls into place so effortlessly as the two characters finally start addressing their feelings instead of keeping them buried.

I’ve also really enjoyed the glimpses we get of stars from the previous films, which ties everything together in this anthology. While the stories are progressing, past characters aren’t being forgotten, and it gives me the feeling of being part of another Umjolo chapter, which makes me happy. The rom-coms have done a great job of keeping you hooked, and I love how smoothly everything moves forward.

As this is the final film in the South African love anthology, which has showcased the lives of some incredible women, I’m glad to see that this last installment focuses on girl love. We’ve seen various types of love between women throughout the series, and it’s wonderful to see that LGBTQ+ couples are included. It’s a reminder that it’s not just the men who create chaos—women can stir things up, too.

I have to commend the cast for their outstanding performances. They’ve brought to life a beautiful mix of emotions—chemistry, love, heartbreak, and the confusion that comes with navigating romance. These feelings shine through in the characters’ expressions, and I truly have to appreciate that. It’s these emotions that draw the audience in, making us fall in love with the characters.

While we know rom-coms like this one often have predictable endings, the real charm lies in watching the characters evolve. And that’s something I truly enjoyed in Umjolo: There is No Cure. This film stands out as one of the smoother, less dramatic ones, and it brought me a sense of peace I didn’t expect.

Umjolo: There Is No Cure (Netflix) Trailor :-

Overall, the Umjolo series has been a real delight, and I really hope the creators consider making a similar series with men as the central characters. It would be great to see the same men who were left behind in these films, as I’m curious to learn their stories and see if they ever find happiness in their lives.

Final Thought

Umjolo: There is No Cure is a charming film that wraps up the anthology with a young couple learning to embrace love despite the doubts weighing on their hearts. It’s an enjoyable watch and definitely an improvement over the previous film.
