Ulajh Review :-
Suhana, portrayed by Janhvi Kapoor, is exhilarated by her new office offer, believing it will finally earn her father, Vanraj Bhatia (played by Adil Hussain), admiration. Despite his doubts about her selection, Suhana is certain it’s due to her professional skills and strategic insight, not merely her prestigious diplomatic lineage. As she embarks on her new role, Vanraj is concurrently appointed India’s permanent representative to the UN.
In her London office, Suhana is welcomed by her team: Jacob Tamang (Meiyang Chang) and Sebin Kutty (Roshan Mathew), who perceive her appointment as nepotism-driven. However, her driver, Salim (Rajesh Tailang), stands firmly by her side, offering advice and support whenever needed. At a party held at the Indian High Commission, Suhana meets Nakul (Gulshan Devaiah), a charismatic Michelin star-chef fluent in multiple languages and accents, who sweeps her off her feet into a whirlwind romance.
However, Suhana’s idyllic life soon unravels when Nakul blackmails her with a secretly recorded video, demanding Indian intelligence and trade secrets in exchange. Reluctantly complying to protect her father’s prestigious new appointment and salvage her reputation, Suhana finds herself increasingly entangled in a web she struggles to escape. As the narrative unfolds across London, India, and Pakistan, another layer to this intricate game begins to emerge.

While Suhana bears the brunt of ‘Ulajh’s complexities, the film features a diverse array of characters who weave in and out amidst its twists, betrayals, and unexpected alliances. The screenplay by Parveez Shaikh and Sudhanshu Saria effectively maintains engagement with genuine surprises and thrills, yet Suhana’s lapse in judgment regarding Nakul and her handling of ensuing complications emerges as the narrative’s weakest aspect. The pacing occasionally falters, leaving loose ends in its wake. As a spy-thriller, ‘Ulajh’ grips in moments while falling flat in others.
Nevertheless, Jahnvi Kapoor delivers a compelling performance, skillfully portraying the nuanced layers of her character, arguably some of her best work to date. Gulshan Devaiah excels as the formidable antagonist, embodying an impressive aura of evil. Roshan Mathew’s character development is handled adeptly, infused with charm by the actor. Rajesh Tailang, Meiyang Chang, and Adil Hussain provide strong support with their assured performances. The cinematography by Shreya Dube and the soundtrack by Shashwat Sachdev enhance the film’s atmosphere.
Despite its flaws, ‘Ulajh’ remains an engaging watch, leaving room for a potential sequel and an endearing new on-screen pairing.
