Anika dreams of leaving her mark on the film industry, but she’s repeatedly dismissed—labeled only as a background dancer and the illegitimate daughter of filmmaker Diwakar Kaushik (Tigmanshu Dhulia). When her father attempts to force her into an unwanted marriage, she defiantly walks away and moves in with Rohan. As the couple battles to find their footing, they upload a music video that unexpectedly captures the attention of Raj Mehta (Shammi Duhan), the influential head of a major film studio.

Raj offers Anika a five-year contract, but the opportunity comes with a price—he pressures her to walk away from her fairytale romance with Rohan. His interest in her is more than just professional; it’s entangled with personal motives. Created by Mahesh Bhatt and directed by Subitra Das, the film begins with emotional depth and promise. It captures Anika’s fierce determination to restore her mother Swara’s (Juhi Babbar) tarnished legacy, Rohan’s heartfelt choice to sing in subways to stay connected to people—just as his legendary father once did—and the quiet, unwavering support he offers Anika through her struggles.

However, post-interval, Shweta Bothra’s screenplay begins to lose its sharpness. Anika’s rise to fame—marked by both success and a growing sense of emptiness—feels glossed over, while Raj’s obsessive grip on her life remains frustratingly underdeveloped. A sudden four-year time jump further weakens the emotional payoff, blunting the impact of both Anika’s transformation and Raj’s descent into control.

The film’s core theme—that fame cannot heal deep emotional scars—is touched upon but never fully explored. Uneven pacing and hurried storytelling make it difficult for viewers to stay emotionally invested in Anika’s arc. Even during moments of high tension, the drama rarely hits with full force. Anu Malik’s soundtrack has its moments, with the title track standing out for its emotional depth, but not every song manages to leave a lasting impression.

While these threads are rich with potential, they aren’t fully interwoven into the narrative, leaving them feeling more like scattered moments than cohesive arcs.

Final Thought

Hirranya Ojha is competent in the film’s first half but grows more assured as the story progresses. Arhaan Pateel offers a sincere, if understated, performance as the devoted boyfriend who quietly steps aside for Anika’s ambitions. Shammi Duhan tends to lean into melodrama, while Tigmanshu Dhulia shines as the disillusioned filmmaker and conflicted father. Juhi Babbar leaves a strong impression as Swara, bringing quiet strength to the role. Though Tu Meri Poori Kahani has moments of emotional resonance, its predictability and sluggish pacing ultimately prevent it from becoming a truly compelling experience.
