Trap Review :-

Trap is a gripping choice for viewers who enjoy a mix of cat-and-mouse chases and psychological thrills. Despite its intriguing premise, the drama doesn’t fully capitalize on its potential. Josh Hartnett’s standout performance and several plot twists keep audiences engaged throughout its 105-minute runtime.

The story centers on serial killer Cooper (Josh Hartnett), dubbed “The Butcher” by the media. He soon discovers that the pop concert he’s attending with his daughter Riley (Ariel Donoghue) is actually a trap designed to catch him, following a tip-off about his presence.

Trap Trailor :-

M. Night Shyamalan’s direction in Trap is exceptional, creating a palpable sense of tension and unease. The script reveals intriguing details, such as how the authorities knew Cooper would be at the concert. As Cooper realizes the full extent of the police presence, we watch him unravel. Shyamalan’s daughter, Saleka Shyamalan, adds a unique touch to the film’s soundtrack with over a dozen songs as the in-film pop star, Lady Raven. Josh Hartnett’s performance, oscillating between a bumbling father and a worried serial killer, is compelling. His efforts to evade capture while maintaining his fatherly façade are a highlight.

However, the film tends to become repetitive as we follow Cooper around the stadium, with his daughter’s growing concern adding to the tension.

The highlight of the film is Josh Hartnett’s performance, but unfortunately, his menacing presence isn’t utilized to its full potential. The film suffers from excessive concert footage, particularly in the first half. When the story shifts away from the stadium, the revelation of Cooper’s true identity by an unexpected character lacks a satisfying execution.

Trap aspires to be a Hitchcockian thriller but ultimately fails to captivate with its setup, missing the mark of engaging suspense.
