Time Cut (Netflix) Review :-

The movie opens with Lucy, a neglected child who excels academically yet feels invisible. Her presence is overshadowed by the lingering grief of her parents over her deceased older sister. On the 20th anniversary of her sister’s murder, the family visits the site of the tragedy, where Lucy discovers a time machine in a shed that transports her 20 years into the past, before the killings occur.

This horror-thriller sci-fi film follows Lucy’s quest to save her sister and her friends from a notorious serial killer who once haunted their town. What starts as a captivating premise with a mix of thrills quickly devolves into a somewhat silly rom-com, leaving viewers frustrated. While the film attempts to blend teenage drama with sci-fi elements of time travel and paradoxes, it lacks a serious exploration of these concepts, ultimately missing the mark.

While I can acknowledge the suspense surrounding the killer’s identity and the intensity of the murder scenes, the ending undermines any positives the film had to offer. The idealized sisterhood Lucy shares with Summer (her older sister) doesn’t erase the trauma of her neglected childhood. Being forced to grapple with the memory of a sister she never knew is a heavy burden. However, their relationship is quickly smoothed over by a simplistic sense of morality that feels imposed rather than earned—this is where the film veers into silly rom-com territory.

As for the motive behind the serial killings, it comes off as absurd. Instead of a heart-wrenching backstory, the killer is portrayed as merely psychotic and in dire need of help. The notion that someone could turn violent over trivial reasons, despite a seemingly decent past, feels unrealistic. This film might have fared better if it were categorized differently, as it struggles to fit into the genres it claims.

Time Cut (Netflix) Trailor :-

The only standout aspect of the film is its cinematography, which captures a subtle thrill during the murder scenes. Aside from that, there’s not much more to say. This is a movie you can easily skip without feeling like you missed anything significant.

Final Thought

Overall, don’t let the sci-fi and horror labels fool you; they might leave you feeling frustrated later. If you’re looking for something to pass the time or want a movie to joke about with friends, this is the one for you. Sci-fi fans might find it disappointing, and horror enthusiasts might just doze off, but it could provide some light entertainment for fans of teen dramas and rom-coms.
