The Traitors India (AmazonPrimeVideo) Review :-

I’ve always had a soft spot for reality TV—the chaotic energy, the so-called “unscripted” drama, and the contestants chasing their fleeting shot at fame. I’ve seen enough shows to be rarely surprised anymore. But Prime Video’s The Traitors manages to stand out—as a full-blown masterclass in cringe. The cast is a mix of controversial and notorious figures whose reputations arrive before they do, alongside a handful of forgettable faces. It’s messy, absurd, and exactly what you’d expect—maybe even more.

Like many Indian reality shows, this series often feels like a test of patience—mainly because of the contestants. Nearly everyone seems convinced they’re a genius with the “biggest and wrinkliest” brain in the room, yet most spend more time throwing tantrums over imagined insults than actually playing the game. The show kicks off with three episodes in its first week, introducing viewers to 20 contestants who participate in challenges to earn gold or protective shields, all while trying to figure out who among them is secretly a Traitor.

Most of the so-called strategy discussions end up revolving around who dislikes whom the most. Minor disagreements quickly spiral into name-calling and personal jabs, with very few contestants stepping back to consider the bigger picture. As a result, there’s hardly any real gameplay to speak of. Occasionally, someone makes a smart move, but for the most part, it feels like Bigg Boss—just slightly less cringe.

You can’t help but wish the show leaned more into clever strategy and psychological depth, rather than endless, nonsensical bickering. Despite being a cast of adults, the behavior often mirrors a playground squabble between five-year-olds, with petty drama taking center stage. To make matters worse, several contestants fade into the background entirely, contributing nothing of value. Their presence feels more like filler than substance, making large portions of the show feel dull and forgettable.

But then again, it’s reality TV—expectations are already low, and the show rarely rises above them. The forced drama feels out of place, especially when paired with the bland, surface-level conversations that lack any real thought or depth. It’s all noise with very little substance.

Final Thought

I genuinely expect more from reality TV—I enjoy the genre and know how entertaining it can be. But The Traitors ends up testing that patience, thanks to a cast full of petty, lackluster contestants who talk a big game but rarely back it up. Still, there’s hope that the next seven episodes might shake things up and deliver some real surprises. For now, all we can do is wait and see.
