The Signature (Zee5) Review :-

“Where there’s hope, there’s life. It fills us with fresh courage and makes us strong again,”—Anne Frank’s poignant words resonate with Arvind Pathak’s plight in The Signature. Despite the doctor’s recommendation of a DNR (Do Not Resuscitate) form, Arvind hesitates to sign it, clinging to hope for his wife Madhu’s recovery. This hope sustains Arvind amid the daunting challenge of covering his wife’s medical expenses.

The narrative of The Signature commences with Arvind and Madhu preparing for their planned trip to Europe, accompanied by their children to the airport. However, moments before checking in, Madhu collapses unconscious. She is swiftly hospitalized and placed on life support. While their son has consented to the DNR form, Arvind wrestles with the decision, knowing that signing it would authorize the removal of Madhu from ventilator support.

However, Arvind remains steadfast in his belief that his wife will recover with the right medical treatment. Unfortunately, he faces a financial setback after spending over Rs 5 lakh on Madhu’s care. As his desperation mounts, Arvind strives to secure funds for his wife’s treatment through various means. Amidst his struggles, an old college friend, Ambika (Mahima Chaudhry), emerges as a beacon of hope, though Arvind keeps his financial burdens hidden from her. The pressing questions now are: How long can Arvind sustain the cost of treatment? Even with financial aid, can Madhu survive?

The Signature is a deeply moving film that grips viewers from start to finish, despite occasional narrative bumps. For instance, Arvind’s son unexpectedly goes missing midway through the story, with no clear explanation for his sudden absence.

Furthermore, Ranvir Shorey’s emotional journey in The Signature feels incomplete. While he delivers a powerful sequence as a father to a child, subsequent scenes that could further develop his character’s arc are noticeably absent, leaving viewers disconnected from his narrative.

The Signature (Zee5) Trailor :-

However, The Signature transcends being merely a tale of a husband torn between love and hope. The film delves into the complexities of parent-child relationships as parents age, the challenges faced by the elderly, and society’s perceptions of them. It also celebrates the profound soul connection between Arvind and Madhu, while showcasing the unwavering support of friends during times of crisis.

Final Thought

Anupam Kher delivers a standout performance in The Signature, embodying his role with earnestness and depth. Mahima Chaudhry effectively utilizes her screen time to make a lasting impression. Conversely, Ranvir Shorey’s portrayal leaves one yearning for more depth and development. Regarding Neena Kulkarni, glimpses of her earlier days in the film would have been a delightful addition.
