The Ride Review :-
At its heart, the Filipino film The Ride is a heartfelt drama about family ties during a crisis. Partway through, it shifts from pure drama into a suspenseful crime story, avoiding typical plot formulas to explore broken family relationships, personal responsibility, and the effects of past decisions.
At just 64 minutes, the film is concise and highlights how hard it is for relationships to endure after betrayal. However, the story moves quickly, with events and character motivations often feeling unclear. The focus is mainly on the two main characters, while the supporting cast is underdeveloped and mostly serves to advance Barry and Leo’s story.
The gunfights and chase scenes bring excitement to the story and are fun to watch, but the film never fully commits to the action. Many thrilling moments happen off-screen, leaving the movie less intense than it could have been. The editing and sound reduce the tension, so while these scenes are entertaining, they don’t have the full impact.
