The festival, boasting a diverse array of events and stars, garnered attention not only for its lineup but also for some of the controversial jokes delivered by comedians like Pete Davidson, who took aim at Kanye West. However, the most notable incident occurred when Dave Chappelle was accosted onstage during his performance at the Hollywood Bowl, resulting in the attacker facing four misdemeanor charges. Netflix swiftly responded, emphasizing their commitment to the safety of creators and the importance of upholding comedians’ right to perform without fear of violence. Although Chappelle’s sold-out shows are not included in Netflix’s upcoming premiere dates, the streaming service hinted at additional announcements to come.
In total, the festival showcased over 300 comedians across 288 shows at more than 35 venues throughout Los Angeles. Notable stars in attendance included Wanda Sykes, Billy Eichner, Rosie O’Donnell, and Seth Rogen, presenting a variety of comedic formats from standup sets to table reads.
