The Guest (Netflix) Review :-
In The Guest, 20 episodes are stretched to deliver both too much and ultimately very little, resulting in a confusing and melodramatic story that’s likely to leave you frustrated by the end. The plot itself is fairly simple, and I’m convinced it could have been wrapped up in under 10 hours. Instead, at nearly 20 hours, the series fails to offer enough twists or developments to justify such a lengthy watch.
The series follows Silvia and Sonia, two women with a complicated shared past. There’s also a hidden connection between Sonia and Lorenzo that eventually comes to light. However, the story is bogged down by so many unnecessary twists and distractions that by the end of almost every episode, you’re left questioning your own sanity. The plot is simple at its core but is made to feel so convoluted that you start wondering if you’re missing something.
As mentioned earlier, the series drags out its runtime for no clear reason, especially since the plot ultimately offers little of real interest. Sure, there are a few intriguing revelations, but they hardly justify such an extended length. Many side stories feel half-baked and unresolved, leaving you wondering what happened to them. In fact, the whole story is so simple it probably could’ve been told in a single episode.
The biggest issue with a series of this length is that it never fully commits. A wild “ex” storyline can be entertaining if it goes all in—sometimes even if it’s a bit over the top, guilty pleasures included. But The Guest is so surprisingly tame that it ends up being laughable. Characters consistently make the worst possible decisions at every turn, and we’re expected to sit through it all as if it’s the most gripping and scandalous drama ever.
The Guest (Netflix) Trailor :-
There’s not much more to add because the content is so predictable and forgettable. The performances are decent, with Carmen Villalobos standing out as Sonia, but that’s about the only highlight. I couldn’t grasp the characters’ motivations or the story’s purpose. Every character is unlikable and lacking any real morality, making it hard to root for any of them. Instead, I felt pure frustration every time they made irrational decisions no normal person would make—and that’s not the reaction I expect from a psychological thriller.
Final Thought
The Guest falls flat primarily because it’s far too long to stay truly engaging or even qualify as a guilty pleasure. If it had been bold enough to fully embrace its craziness, I might have understood. But as it is, the series simply isn’t worth wasting your valuable time on.
“The Guest” is now streaming on Netflix.
