If you’ve tuned into Heeramandi or are contemplating whether to watch it, the 7th episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show promises to enrich your perspective, offering insights that may sway your decision. Featuring the stars of Netflix’s trending drama Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar—Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sharmin Segal, Sanjeeda Shaikh, and Richa Chadha—the episode delves into their real-life experiences on set and their immersion into the 1940s era.

The episode began with light-hearted banter as Kapil Sharma and the Heeramandi stars enjoyed some pani puri before the taping. In a playful twist, Sharma refused to serve anyone who addressed him as “bhaiya” (elder brother in Hindi). Sonakshi Sinha fell victim to this rule first and humorously received an empty plate. The rest of the cast quickly adapted, showering Sharma with compliments to secure their share of snacks before moving on to the main conversation.

While Heeramandi remained the central topic, the discussion also touched on writer-director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, despite his absence from the show. Impressively, Krushna Abhishek and Kiku Sharda transformed into characters from Bhansali’s classic Devdas (2002), entertaining the Heeramandi stars. Sinha, who portrays Fareedan in the series, even attempted to teach the Chandramukhi character some ada (graceful gestures).

The conversation pivoted to the series itself, with each leading lady commending Bhansali’s meticulousness. Richa Chadha recounted enduring 99 takes for a song sequence, describing it as both her best and worst day on set. Sonakshi Sinha shared how all her rehearsals for a song were scrapped, and the choreography was redesigned for a single take, making history in just four minutes.

Sharmin Segal, Bhansali’s niece, revealed undergoing multiple auditions for the role of Alamzeb, while Kapil Sharma playfully teased Manisha Koirala for being Bhansali’s good luck charm, having previously worked with him on Khamoshi. Despite Sharma’s attempts to unearth on-set disagreements, the women emphasized that the script of Heeramandi offered more drama than their real-life interactions.

With six guests, the attention was divided, but Kapil skillfully balanced the questions, ensuring each lady had a chance to share her experiences and insights. Personally, this episode stands out as the best in the series, featuring trending guests who offered both entertainment and substantial content. Looking ahead, Ed Sheeran’s upcoming performance promises to be a significant milestone for Kapil Sharma’s inaugural Netflix show.
