The Gorge (AppleTv) Review :-
At over two hours, Apple TV+’s The Gorge takes its time before diving into the romance and action. For much of the first half, the film moves at a slow pace, focusing on two characters who slowly get to know each other in a bleak, mysterious landscape teeming with terrifying monsters from “hell.” Many viewers might find their attention waning during this stretch, as the only highlights are the charming chemistry between Teller and Taylor-Joy, who flirt using notepads—a brief but pleasant moment that is unfortunately sparse.
The film starts to pick up around the one-hour mark, introducing action and an eerie new world that gives us a glimpse into the gorge and its dark secrets. The strange, chemical-like environment and its unsettling creatures are certainly creepy and disturbing, leaving a sense of unease. However, the storytelling doesn’t quite land, as the pacing feels off and the characters—Drasa and Levi—come across as more bumbling than believable as highly trained soldiers. While I appreciated their more human moments, their incompetence often overshadowed their supposed expertise.

That said, the film feels disjointed and unclear by the time we reach the end. It struggles to define what it’s trying to be, as the action is minimal and the sci-fi elements are sparse. The excitement is crammed into the final hour, which makes the conclusion feel rushed and underwhelming. The first hour is a missed opportunity—dragging on without offering much insight into the gorge or the experiment. That portion of the film feels forgettable and doesn’t seem to serve the story’s true purpose.
While I did enjoy the chemistry between Drasa and Levi, making their romance sweet, it also felt rushed. Isolation can drive people to do strange things, but given that they are assassins, I’d expect them to be more controlled than to suddenly fall in love without much build-up. It’s a bit jarring, and because it’s so quick, we never really get to feel that romantic spark. Still, it remains the only highlight for me, despite feeling somewhat inconsequential in the grand scheme of things.

On the flip side, Sigourney Weaver’s role feels completely underutilized—her character is one-dimensional and serves only as the token antagonist. There’s no backstory or depth to her, and the film doesn’t attempt to build a more menacing atmosphere around her presence. The central conflict of the gorge is resolved too quickly and conveniently, and the clichéd plot doesn’t leave us wondering about the fate of the protagonists afterward. As a result, when the film finally delivers a twist (which is rare to begin with), it feels predictable and flat, lacking any real excitement.
The Gorge (AppleTv) Trailor :-
Final Thought
Despite the strong performances, The Gorge feels underdeveloped and lacks the depth needed to keep us on the edge of our seats. The romance is sweet but doesn’t provide enough to anchor the story. The pacing is too slow for a sci-fi thriller, and there just isn’t enough substance to make it truly captivating. While it may be fine for a one-time watch, it doesn’t leave a lasting impact.
