Tell Me Lies Season 2 (Hulu) Review

Tell Me Lies – Season 2 Episode 3

In Episode 3 of Tell Me Lies Season 2, we return to 2015, where Lucy brings her boyfriend Max to Evan and Bree’s pre-wedding celebration. Stephen informs Evan that Lydia is out of town, while Wrigley keeps his distance from Pippa. Although Lucy attempts to act nonchalant about Stephen, she becomes visibly upset when Max engages in conversation with him. Pippa steps outside for a smoke and confides in Diana, expressing her disappointment that Diana didn’t come to the party.

Outside, Stephen attempts to strike up a conversation with Lucy, but Pippa intervenes, asking him to leave them alone. Lucy comments that Lydia might have changed Stephen for the better, but Pippa remains skeptical. The scene then shifts back to 2008, where Lucy is in a classroom.

Stephen approaches Lucy and pretends he didn’t know they were in the same class. He criticizes some errors in her essay and asks her to make revisions, taking pleasure in making her feel uncomfortable. Meanwhile, Bree and Oliver are caught up in a passionate moment, but Oliver remembers he has a meeting soon. He gives Bree his number and they agree to meet up later.

Oliver asks Bree to keep their kiss a secret, and they part ways with a final kiss. Meanwhile, Diana is stuck listening to her mother gripe about her father. Diana urges her mother to stay with her father despite his behavior. Afterward, Diana checks in on Pippa following the party incident. Pippa is taken aback by Diana’s concern, leaving Diana somewhat surprised by Pippa’s reaction.

In the cafeteria, Evan shares with Wrigley and Stephen that he’s broken up with Bree. Wrigley suggests that now that Evan is single, they can start enjoying college life and having fun like they used to. Meanwhile, Bree is also discussing the breakup with her friends, creating an awkward atmosphere for Lucy. Chris arrives and greets Pippa.

Lucy and Pippa decide not to mention the incident between Pippa and Chris at the party when they head off to class. On campus, Leo catches up with Lucy and tries to talk about his anger issues, but Lucy refuses to engage and walks away. Back in the cafeteria, Diana is seated with Wrigley and his teammates when Pippa walks past.

The jocks start teasing Pippa, but instead of ignoring them as usual, she confronts them, which silences them immediately. She calls out Wrigley for allowing his friends to bully her before walking away.

Diana tells Wrigley that Pippa was right. Meanwhile, Pippa heads to her dorm room and finds Bree there. Clearly shaken, Pippa decides to lie down and take a nap. Bree attempts to discuss Pippa’s kiss with Oliver, but Pippa asks to talk about it later.

At that moment, Bree receives a text from Oliver. Back in Diana’s apartment, Diana panics when she realizes her paper hasn’t been saved. Stephen offers to write it for her, which helps calm her down. Diana vents about her mother, calling her pathetic, and Stephen’s comment that Diana is nothing like her mother only serves to irritate her further.

That evening, Wrigley approaches Pippa to apologize for how his friends have treated her since their breakup. Meanwhile, Bree meets Oliver at a restaurant. Oliver confesses that he is attracted to Bree but insists he cannot leave his wife. Bree, undeterred, tells Oliver she’s willing to have an affair with him. Oliver, suddenly coming to his senses, realizes he’s not thinking clearly and leaves the restaurant, leaving Bree stunned.

Later, Pippa and Lucy step outside for a smoke and reflect on their tumultuous first year at college. Pippa reveals that she dyed her hair blonde in hopes of a fresh start. Lucy shares her tendency to be drawn to troubled men and mentions Chris’s behavior towards Pippa. Pippa shuts down the conversation about Chris and instead talks about how Leo isn’t as bad as he might seem.

Tell Me Lies Season 2 (Hulu) Trailor :-

The next day, Stephen returns the paper he wrote for Diana and notices Lucy’s ID card in her bag. He questions her about how she came by it and asks about her recent conversation with Diana. Diana explains that they had a disagreement during which Lucy accidentally dropped her ID. Stephen, however, lies to Diana, saying that Lucy switched to the class he’s assigned to assist.

Diana is unsettled by Lucy’s behavior and tries to offer sympathy to Stephen. Later, Stephen goes to Lucy’s room to confront her. Lucy tells him to leave, asserting that he no longer matters to her. Stephen argues that Lucy is being dishonest and attempts to come on to her. Although Lucy insists she has no feelings for Stephen, she finds herself drawn closer to him.

Stephen humiliates Lucy and then exits the room. Distraught, Lucy goes to Diana’s room and reveals the truth about Macy’s car accident, claiming that Stephen witnessed Macy’s death and did nothing to help. Diana dismisses Lucy’s story as unbelievable and accuses her of being insane for her behavior. Overwhelmed, Diana leaves the room and decides to drop the class Stephen was assisting to distance herself from him.

Lucy goes to Leo’s room to talk about his anger issues and uses the opportunity to open up about her troubled relationship with Stephen and its impact on her. In a moment of vulnerability, she asks Leo to be kind to her as they share an embrace on the couch.

Later that night, Bree meets up with Oliver, and they drive to a friend’s apartment, where they become intimate. The episode wraps up with Diana seeking comfort after Lucy’s revelation, asking Stephen for sexual intimacy to reassure herself.

Final Thoughts

Stephen is one of the most frustrating characters on the show; his presence always makes me want to punch him. He’s incredibly self-absorbed and demands Lucy’s affection despite his toxic behavior toward her. With Diana now aware of the truth about Stephen and Macy, this revelation might be the reason for her potential breakup with him.

After Lucy exposed his secret, leading to his breakup with Diana and damaging his career, Stephen is now dating Lydia as a way to get back at her. Additionally, Lucy is likely to support Pippa in her efforts to expose Chris, which may further strain her relationship with Lydia.

Despite the turmoil this season on Tell Me Lies, we can look forward to some steamy romance between Tom Ellis and Catherine Missal as Oliver and Bree!

Tell Me Lies – Season 2 Episode 4

In Episode 4 of Tell Me Lies Season 2, we find Stephen, Wrigley, and Evan in a car discussing Stephen’s upcoming LSAT exams. Just as they’re chatting, Evan narrowly avoids a collision, leaving Stephen rattled. The incident affects him during class, prompting Diana to check on him afterward. Although she expresses concern, Stephen brushes it off.

As they talk about the lecture, Stephen reflects on how cheating on her was his biggest mistake, which deeply resonates with Diana. That evening, Leo and Lucy share a moment together, while Oliver and Bree spend the night as well. When Bree tries to leave, Oliver stops her, inquiring about her relationship with Evan.

Oliver points out that Bree’s friends practically manipulated Evan into liking her, prompting Bree to reflect on his words and realize he’s right. Oliver offers her reassurance and gives her a compliment to lift her spirits.

The next morning, Pippa is out for a walk with her dad when he asks about Wrigley. She decides to keep their break-up a secret, telling him that Wrigley is just busy. As luck would have it, they encounter Wrigley, who is taken aback to discover Pippa’s deception. He plays along, pretending they’re still together and even tells Pippa’s dad that he’s planning to become a lawyer.

After her dad leaves, Pippa apologizes to Wrigley for lying about their relationship and thanks him for covering for her. Meanwhile, Lucy and Leo’s romance continues to blossom, but Bree feels insecure in class when she sees Marianne. Suddenly, Oliver arrives to meet his wife, and Bree is taken aback when she witnesses Marianne kiss him.

After class, Evan approaches Bree, but she avoids engaging with him. During her break, she runs into Lucy and vents about how Marianne gave her a poor grade on her essay. Lucy encourages Bree not to dwell on the grade just as Pippa joins them. The three friends chat over coffee about their love lives, but Pippa’s remark about Bree’s situation only makes Bree feel worse.

In his dorm room, Stephen realizes that Diana was much better prepared for her LSAT than he is. Wrigley starts discussing his degree with Stephen when Evan arrives, expressing his frustration about how Bree is treating him. He feels she’s ignoring him over a single mistake, and Stephen and Wrigley try to encourage him to move on.

Stephen suggests that Wrigley take Evan to a party to help him meet someone new. Meanwhile, Diana offers to stay with Stephen to assist him with his studying. On the other side of campus, Bree meets with Marianne to discuss her poor grade. They agree to schedule an appointment for the following week to talk it over.

That night, Leo and Lucy are enjoying a party when Evan and Wrigley show up. Evan spots Lucy with Leo, and soon Leo’s ex-girlfriend approaches him, prompting Lucy to tease him. The two end up making out and decide to head to their dorm room for some privacy. Meanwhile, Wrigley encourages Evan to let loose and find someone to hook up with at the party.

Evan buys a drink for a girl at the party and ends up hooking up with her. Meanwhile, Leo and Lucy are also getting intimate when Lucy mentions that she’s on the pill. Leo then gets up to grab a condom, which makes Lucy suspicious and wonder if he’s seeing someone else. This sparks an argument, during which Lucy brings up Leo’s ex-girlfriend who they ran into at the party.

Eventually, Lucy apologizes for her reaction, explaining that she’s been acting out because of her manipulative relationship with Stephen. However, Leo, still feeling hurt, gets dressed. Lucy also puts her clothes on and leaves his room. Meanwhile, Evan exits the club with his date, while Wrigley sends a text to Pippa, inviting her to hang out.

In her dorm room, Bree scrolls through Marianne’s social media accounts. Meanwhile, in Wrigley’s dorm, he brings up the idea of getting back together with Pippa. She’s taken aback by the suggestion, leading to an awkward conversation. Wrigley asks her to clarify why she broke up with him, and they have an open discussion about their feelings.

Diana encourages Stephen to relax about his upcoming LSAT exams. The next morning, Evan wakes up next to the girl he hooked up with at the party. He tries to get her to leave, but ends up making breakfast for her instead.

At the same time, Bree meets Lucy in her dorm and confesses that she hooked up with Oliver. Lucy is shocked and struggles to understand her friend’s involvement with the husband of their teacher. However, as Bree shares her feelings for Oliver, Lucy begins to see where she’s coming from.

Bree explains to Lucy that after Evan cheated on her, Oliver’s treatment makes her feel special again. Lucy offers her support and promises to keep Bree’s secret. Meanwhile, Stephen and Diana take the LSAT, but once they leave the classroom, Stephen is hit with a stress-induced panic attack. Diana rushes him to the hospital, where the doctor informs them that he has a fractured rib, which could explain his shortness of breath.

Diana grows suspicious when the doctor reveals that the fracture was likely caused by the impact of a steering wheel. Meanwhile, Bree confronts Oliver about his presence in class, and he apologizes for making her feel uncomfortable. Bree then asks if she can spend the night with him, and he agrees.

The two start making out, and Bree asks Oliver if Marianne has mentioned her. Oliver warns Bree that she must never discuss their affair, insisting it would ruin his life. Bree lies and tells Oliver that she’s already told Lucy about it. After their hospital visit, Stephen returns to the dorm and heads straight for the shower.

Diana browses through Stephen’s computer and stumbles upon suggestive photos of him with Macy. This confirms for her that Lucy was telling the truth about Stephen’s involvement with Macy, including the accident that nearly took Macy’s life while Stephen was driving. Disturbed, she deletes the photos from his laptop and pretends she never saw anything.

Final Thoughts

While it’s understandable that Bree feels anxious when confronted by both Oliver and Marianne, I question why she felt compelled to approach Marianne for a conversation. Even if Marianne isn’t aware of the affair, she might still be deeply hurt by the betrayal involving her student.

Now that Lucy knows about Bree’s infidelity, I wonder if she’ll decide to inform Evan. This revelation could potentially lead to Bree reconciling with Evan, which might culminate in their engagement. Additionally, with Diana now aware of Stephen’s role in Macy’s accident, she might consider breaking up with him.
