Tanaav Season 2 (Sonyliv) Review :-
In the aftermath of the previous season’s events, including the demise of Umar Riaz and the assumption of leadership by Shashank Arora’s character Junaid, Gaurav Arora steps into the spotlight in Tanaav 2. The series kicks off with a pivotal scene from the trailer, where Gaurav Arora initially blends into the background before becoming the focal point of attention. This scene stands out as a highlight of the show, marked by its intensity and unintended consequences. The introduction music and visuals set the tone intriguingly for Sudhir Mishra’s series.
The introduction of Kabir Bedi and Manav Vij piques curiosity about what each actor will bring to the series. This time, Kabir Bedi edges slightly ahead of Manav Vij. Vij shines particularly in close-up scenes, delivering a compelling breakdown scene that resonates well. He even channels an angry version reminiscent of Sunny Deol (complete with a dialogue akin to “Dhai kilo ka haath”). Overall, Vij proves his talent as an actor, leaving a lasting impression.
Meanwhile, Rajat Kapoor continues to impress with his presence, despite not playing the role of the antagonist this time. His expressions and dialogue delivery remain as sharp and effective as ever.
Ekta Kaul returns as Dr. Farah, portraying a character whose compassion sometimes overrides practicality. Her emotional depth resonates strongly throughout the show, and Ekta delivers a commendable performance in this aspect.
Gaurav adeptly steps into the role of Farid Mir, though his standout moments are limited to a few scenes. Soni Razdan, portraying his mother, maintains a consistent emotional wavelength, grappling with ongoing hardships faced by her family. She exudes authority, albeit fleetingly, amidst the turmoil.
Shashank Arora maintains a steady tone as Junaid throughout the series, except when he confronts his wife, Dr. Farah. His defense of Farah in front of Farid Mir, coupled with his menacing threats, exudes power. This pivotal scene marks a shift as Shashank portrays Junaid with chilling intensity. Subsequently, he reveals a ruthless streak by raising the Farah-Kabir controversy in her presence. From then on, Shashank brings an aura of menace to nearly every scene he graces, leaving a lasting impact until the finale. Once again, the actor demonstrates his mastery of the craft.
As anticipated, Kabir continues to act independently, asserting his authority throughout this season. Sukhmani Sadana portrays Kabir’s ex-wife Nusrat, who has a minimal role but performs commendably. Arbaaz Khan reprises his role as Vikrant, maintaining consistency from the previous season while actively participating in the unfolding events. Sahiba Bali reprises her role as Toshi, blending both fun and seriousness, with a standout scene involving ‘Shadow’ that highlights her presence.
Satyadeep Mishra, Arslan Goni, and Amit Gaur return as officers Udar, Kunal, and Muneer respectively. Arslan Goni shines in a charming moment that he effortlessly owns. Mir Sarwar, appearing later in the series as Idris, commands a formidable presence right from his first scene, showcasing more authority than Gaurav displayed initially.
Tanaav Season 2 (Sonyliv) Trailor :-
The set design this time around is undeniably grander, although it may have been unnecessary. Additionally, the added VFX in the rocket scene doesn’t quite complement the show. However, the series’ commendable tribute to its own remains noteworthy.
Tanaav 2 maintains a steady pace but falls short of hitting the mark consistently. Certain moments, such as those on the terrace, keep viewers on the edge of their seats. However, in the first three episodes especially, the narrative struggles to maintain engagement. The intensity ramps up significantly during the mission sequences, largely driven by the compelling performances of actors like Shashank.
Towards the end of the series, a surprise awaits viewers as a recurring cast member appears in a different role—or perhaps not? This unexpected twist adds a layer of intrigue that viewers were anticipating but didn’t foresee.
Final Thoughts
Sets the stage for unfolding events, but takes its time to reach its destination, making incremental progress. Action isn’t constant throughout, so if that’s what you’re seeking, you may have better luck with Part 2. Taanav Season 2 Part 1 features Shashank Arora and Manav Vij, with Shashank commanding more attention. The story unfolds slowly, at times seeming to circle back on itself, demanding patience from viewers. Eventually, there’s a modest payoff, albeit the intriguing mission unfolds relatively briefly compared to the extensive buildup. Watch this installment primarily to anticipate what Part 2 will bring.
