Stephen Review :-

Netflix’s latest psychological thriller Stephen follows a psychiatrist and a police officer as they investigate the strange behavior of a serial killer. The film explores Stephen’s mental state and the efforts of the authorities to determine the truth about his crimes.

The movie starts strong and keeps you engaged. Gomathi Shankar’s portrayal of Stephen is layered and unpredictable, making it hard to tell who he really is at first. The film maintains this tension, leaving viewers unsure whether Stephen is a dangerous psychopath or a person shaped by past abuse.

Right from the start, the film hints that not everything is as it seems, and the serial killer may be hiding more than we realize. Are Michael and Seema just pawns in his game? The answer only comes at the very end, and the film does a good job of making Stephen a chilling and complex character while keeping viewers guessing.

However, the movie struggles in its execution. Long song sequences and drawn-out investigation scenes slow down the story, making it feel tedious at times. A shorter, tighter runtime without the extra padding would have kept the tension high. These slow parts weaken the film’s thrill, turning it into a long but less memorable thriller.

Even though the film has an ending, it doesn’t deliver the strong impact a psychological thriller needs. The twist is somewhat interesting but not original. Gomathi Shankar’s performance is unsettling and engaging, yet the main story feels generic and familiar, leaving the viewer disappointed. Similar films have done this concept better, and this one fails to make a lasting impression, especially because it takes too long to get to the engaging parts.

Stephen Trailor :-

Since most of the film revolves around the two investigating the killer’s motives and past, the story starts to feel slow after a while. At 123 minutes, it drags, taking too long to reach the main point.

Final Thought

Stephen works okay and has a decent twist at the end. However, the story feels slow and repetitive at times, as it keeps repeating the same points. The song and dance sequences feel unnecessary, and a shorter runtime would have made the film more engaging.
