Sosyal Climbers (Netflix) Review :-
The film follows a couple who find themselves in a desperate situation after being scammed, leaving them with a debt that’s difficult to repay. With only one property to sell that could potentially solve their financial woes, they pour all their energy into fixing it up. However, their plans take an unexpected turn when their neighbors mistakenly believe they’ve purchased the property. Left with no other option, the couple resorts to scamming the wealthy, only to find themselves sinking deeper into trouble.

While the plot may feel familiar, this Filipino film adds a unique twist that makes for an entertaining watch. For rom-com fans, it’s definitely a film worth seeing, though it might not rise above the long list of beloved classics in the genre. What truly shines, however, is the undeniable chemistry between the lead actors, whose dynamic sparks on screen and keeps the audience engaged from start to finish.

What I really appreciate about this film is how it explores the vulnerabilities that challenge a relationship. The clash between material desires and the harsh realities of life versus the dreamy idealism of love is a theme that runs throughout. These moments highlight the importance of these life aspects at pivotal points, and it’s a concept that resonates deeply, making the film stand out despite other distractions on screen.
As for the performances, they’re decent but not exceptional. While the chemistry between the lead couple is definitely the highlight, it doesn’t quite mask the occasional missteps in their scenes with other cast members. The same can be said for some of the supporting characters, who occasionally go a bit overboard with their portrayals.
Sosyal Climbers (Netflix) Trailor :-
Altogether, the film certainly introduces some thought-provoking themes and manages to stand out in its own way, but the plot isn’t the most compelling I’ve encountered. Additionally, the ending feels a bit unclear, leaving us wondering what happens after the key events that much of the film revolves around. This lack of closure is disappointing and undermines the film, especially when things were starting to get really interesting.
Final Thought
Sosyal Climbers is an engaging rom-com with a somewhat unique premise that wraps up in an unexpectedly impressive way. While the film delivers its fair share of love and laughs, the idealistic ending provides a nice finishing touch to the story. It’s an enjoyable watch, but ultimately, it’s not something that will leave a lasting impression.
“Sosyal Climbers” is now streaming on Netflix.
