Sofia Vergara emphasized, “I completely understand and respect the choice of anyone who desires motherhood after the age of 50.”
Actors Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello finalized their divorce in July last year. In a recent interview with People, the Modern Family star was asked about her decision not to have more children, to which she responded, “Yes. There are things in life that might seem like good ideas, but they’re not. I was already a mother. I understand the demands and sacrifices it entails to be the best mother one can be.”
Sofia Vergara, who shares a son named Manolo with her ex-husband Joe Gonzalez, further elaborated, “Nowadays, thanks to advancements in science, women can have children at older ages. However, I personally didn’t feel it was fair to bring a child into the world given my career, lifestyle, and the dynamics of my marriage. I wouldn’t be able to give 100 percent.”
In a previous interview with Spanish newspaper El Pais, she candidly discussed her divorce from Joe, stating, “My marriage ended because my husband was younger and wanted children, while I didn’t want to become an older mother.”
Sofia Vergara, renowned for her role in Modern Family, has also appeared in several films such as New Year’s Eve, Chef, Bottom Of The 9th, The Female Brain, The Con Is On, Bent, Machete Kills, Wild Card, and Madea Goes To Jail. Additionally, she served as a judge on America’s Got Talent and recently starred in the Netflix series Griselda.
