Indian actress Sobhita Dhulipala has stirred up social media with a series of captivating images from her recent appearance at the Los Angeles premiere of her Hollywood debut film, Monkey Man. Taking to her social media, she shared glimpses of her stunning ensemble that dazzled onlookers on the red carpet. Dhulipala’s choice of attire for the premiere showcased her impeccable fashion sense and innate charm.
Monkey Man premiered in theaters worldwide on April 5. Its release in India is still pending.
Her carefully curated ensemble exuded sophistication and glamour, drawing attention from fans and fashion enthusiasts alike. Sobhita donned a white strapless pearl top and dhoti pants at the premiere of Monkey Man in LA.
In her interview with The New York Times, she delved into her character in the film and shared insights into collaborating with Dev Patel, the multifaceted talent behind the action thriller. In Monkey Man, she portrays Sita, a call girl whose business caters to powerful yet despicable men. Reflecting on her portrayal of characters on the margins, Sobhita expressed, “Those are really beautifully complex humans. To be considered someone who can be trusted with characters like that is really an honour⊠If something inspires me or thereâs some value I can bring to the story, I want to belong with it.”
Sobhita also revealed that even before the release of her first film in India (Raman Raghav 2.0 directed by Anurag Kashyap in 2016), she had auditioned for the role of Sita in Monkey Man. It took the team several years to get back to her, and in 2019, Dev Patel informed her that she was perfect for the role from the moment he saw her audition.
Inspired by the legend of Hanuman, symbolizing strength and courage, Monkey Man stars Patel as Kid, an anonymous young man who struggles to survive in an underground fight club. After years of suppressed rage, Kid embarks on a campaign of retribution against the cityâs sinister elite.
Monkey Man is produced by a stellar lineup including Dev Patel, Jomon Thomas, Jordan Peele, Win Rosenfeld, and others. Packed with thrilling fight and chase scenes, the film is directed by Dev Patel from his original story and screenplay.
The international cast of Monkey Man includes Sharlto Copley, Sobhita Dhulipala, Pitobash, Vipin Sharma, and others. The film landed in theaters worldwide on April 5 but is yet to be released in India.
