Living in a distant village, far removed from Udaipur, presents formidable challenges. Particularly so for those belonging to marginalized communities, compounded further by poverty, and exacerbated for young girls like Prerana. Despite her dreams and aspirations, routinely dashed before they can take flight, Prerana remains tethered to her duties. Instead of pursuing her own education, she finds herself relegated to escorting her younger brother to school, while shouldering various odd jobs to support her family. Her desire to play freely is stifled by reminders of her imminent marital responsibilities. Even her romantic inclinations are stifled by societal constraints, warning against any dalliance deemed socially unacceptable.

It’s in this resigned acceptance of her circumstances that the arrival of Jessica, hailing from London, ignites a spark within Prerana. Jessica’s own journey of self-discovery takes a different turn as she becomes entwined with Prerana and the village children.

By happenstance, Jessica and her friend Erick introduce skateboarding to the children. While the narrative shifts towards this newfound sporting interest, the pursuit of this passion serves as a metaphor for freedom and autonomy. However, the path to realizing Jessica’s vision of establishing a world-class skatepark in the village is fraught with obstacles, forming the crux of the story.

While the underlying idea and effort behind the narrative are commendable, the story follows predictable trajectories, albeit punctuated by occasional twists. What it truly necessitates is a cast capable of engaging the audience through their performances. Regrettably, the leading actresses deliver mediocre performances, overshadowing the more convincing portrayals by Shafin Patel as Ankush and Waheeda Rahman as Maharani. Despite its thematic emphasis on the indomitable spirit of sports and the storyboard’s potential for a tale steeped in hope, the film lacks the dynamism required to fully realize its aspirations as an inspiring narrative.
