Single Salma Review :-
Set in Lucknow in 2025, Single Salma explores how being single remains one of society’s most debated topics—especially in small-town India. The story follows a woman whose worth is measured not by her intelligence, career as an engineer, or skill in managing her home, but by one thing alone: her marital status.
Director Nachiket Samant, along with writers Mudassar Aziz, Amina Khan, and Ravi Kumar, presents a heartfelt slice-of-life drama about a woman in her 30s whose single status becomes everyone else’s obsession. While her family relies on her completely, her own aspirations are often overlooked. Her mother, fixated on getting her married, even makes Salma swear on the Quran to comply. As the search for a groom begins, a matchmaker’s candid remark — “Iss umar mein ladka nahi, aadmi milega” — perfectly captures the tone and challenges of Salma’s journey to find companionship.
Then comes Sikander (Shreyas Talpade) — loud, flamboyant, yet genuinely kind-hearted — a man who knows Salma is far beyond his reach. His straightforward charm slowly melts her hesitation, and just when everything seems to fall into place, Salma gets an opportunity to spend two months in London for a work training program. That’s when her outlook on life begins to change.
The story itself treads familiar ground. We’ve seen similar journeys of self-discovery in films like Queen, where travel becomes a catalyst for transformation. Single Salma chooses a safe, straightforward path — sometimes to its detriment. It’s predictable and hesitant to take risks, though it does offer tender, relatable moments filled with humor and heart. Despite occasional preachiness, its authentic small-town flavor and sincere performances keep the film engaging.
Single Salma Trailor :-
Huma Qureshi delivers a standout performance as Salma, capturing her inner struggle between responsibility and self-worth with understated elegance. Shreyas Talpade is equally impressive as Sikander, the flamboyant yet earnest suitor who balances humor with genuine warmth. Sunny Singh brings charm to the role of Meet, Salma’s free-spirited guide in London, though his character feels somewhat predictable. Among the supporting cast, Navni Parihar as Mrs. Shrivastav, Salma’s perceptive senior colleague, and Nidhi Singh as her outspoken best friend, infuse the story with depth and vibrancy. Unfortunately, Sohail Sen’s music fails to leave a lasting impression.
Final Thought
Overall, Single Salma is a heartfelt effort that succeeds in conveying its message, even if it leans more toward preachy than impactful. It’s a gentle, well-meaning film with its heart in the right place—just lacking the spark or surprise to make it truly memorable.
