Deepinder Goyal recalls how his father responded to his startup idea
In a viral clip, Deepinder Goyal reflects on the challenges he faced when starting Zomato in 2008, particularly as someone from a small town.
Goyal shared an insightful anecdote, recalling, “When I told my dad about starting Zomato, he said, ‘Janta hai tera baap kon hai?’ which essentially meant ‘You can’t do a startup.’” Growing up in a small town in Punjab, this was a common mindset. Despite his father’s doubts stemming from their modest background, Goyal took a leap of faith and successfully launched his venture.
In his address, Goyal also expressed gratitude to the government for their supportive initiatives, which he credited for helping him build Zomato, a company that now provides employment to thousands.
