Actor Alyy Khan reflected on the occasion when thousands of fans from all over Europe congregated outside Shah Rukh Khan’s hotel in Berlin on his birthday while he was filming a movie there.
American talk show host David Letterman was surprised by the throngs of fans eagerly awaiting a glimpse of Shah Rukh Khan during his visit to India for an interview on his show My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman. However, Shah Rukh’s fan base extends beyond India’s borders. In a recent conversation, actor Alyy Khan recalled the time when thousands of fans from across Europe gathered outside SRK’s hotel in Berlin on his birthday while he was filming a movie there. Alyy praised the star’s humility and recounted how Shah Rukh spent an hour with those fans.
Speaking with DawnNews, Alyy shared, “I once shot a film with Shah Rukh Khan in Berlin, and it happened to be his birthday. We were staying in the same hotel where Brad Pitt and Quentin Tarantino had stayed a few days earlier while filming a movie in Berlin. As most of the crew for our film was the same, they were amazed by the crowd gathered to wish Shah Rukh on his birthday. They remarked that they hadn’t seen such a crowd before, not even for Brad Pitt.”
He continued, “People from across Europe came to meet him. Since we had secured a one-kilometer space for filming, they stood behind barricades with placards to greet him. Shah Rukh walked all the way to the barricades and spent a good hour with the fans, thanking them for making the effort to wish him. His star power is unparalleled.”
During the interview, Alyy Khan also recounted his experience working alongside Hollywood star Angelina Jolie in the 2007 film A Mighty Heart, which also featured the late actor Irrfan. Reflecting on an incident at a film party in Mumbai, Alyy remembered how Irrfan defused a tense situation caused by an actor’s disrespectful behavior with his calm demeanor.
He recalled, “We were filming for A Mighty Heart. Brad Pitt was producing the film and Angelina was playing the lead role. They hosted a party at Mumbai’s Taj Hotel, and I arrived there with Irrfan, who was also part of the film. During the party, I approached an actor to shake hands, but he ignored me and turned away. I was taken aback, but Irrfan simply said, ‘Let it go.'”
Alyy also shared an anecdote about Angelina from the same party, highlighting her down-to-earth nature. He said, “I then started chatting with Angelina. She was pregnant at the time, as was my wife. So, we began discussing everyday topics like milk formulas and diapers. We were having these ordinary conversations, and whenever someone approached to take a picture with her, she would transform into the actor Angelina Jolie. But once they left, she would return to being a mother. I was impressed by her humility.”
