Search: The Naina Murder Case starts off as a gripping watch, highlighting the importance of children’s safety in today’s world and the need for open, honest communication between parents and kids. But just when you expect answers, the show takes a frustrating turn. Its ending is not only unsatisfying but maddening — leaving you questioning not just the story, but your own sanity by the final scene.
After the shocking murder of a young college student, the series follows ACP Sanyukta Das — pulled back into duty just before retirement — as she teams up with her successor, ACP Jai Kanwal, to crack the case. The storyline sticks to a familiar formula, offering a straightforward investigation without many surprises. Even the tense dynamic between Sanyukta and her daughter Maahi feels predictable, lacking emotional depth or fresh perspective.
The murder mystery at the heart of the series manages to keep you hooked — at least for a while. As the plot unravels, however, the twists start to feel predictable. Unfortunately, that’s where Search: The Naina Murder Case falters. While it does have moments of genuine intrigue, the forced suspense and manufactured questions become tiresome. The show sets up mysteries not to enrich the story, but to pad the runtime — and when there’s no real payoff, it leaves you feeling more irritated than intrigued.

Konkana Sen Sharma shines in the show, delivering a performance that’s always a pleasure to watch. I still can’t quite wrap my head around why her Bengali character primarily speaks Hindi at home, only occasionally slipping into Bengali as a nod to her roots—but at this point, I’m starting to let go of those questions. Aside from her, Surya Sharma also impresses, and his subtle back-and-forth with Sanyukta injects tension into the story, leaving you curious about whether they’ll ever truly connect.
Final Thought
In the end, the Hotstar Special series falls short of expectations. Its straightforward storyline makes for a quick six-episode watch, but the needless, frustrating ending leaves a sour aftertaste. Now, we’re left waiting for the next season to see if things actually come together.
