Saira Khan Case Review :-

Based on a real case by ex-Principal Judge Swati Chauhan, who also co-directs alongside Karan Razdan, Saira Khan Case approaches its subject with genuine intent. The film aims to shed light on the emotional and legal struggles of a woman wronged by the misuse of triple talaq—a practice where a Muslim man can divorce his wife by pronouncing “talaq” three times—and subsequently denied access to her children. However, despite the importance of its theme, the film’s execution falters repeatedly, undermining its impact.

The film centers on Saira (Poonam Dubey), a Muslim woman from Baku, Azerbaijan, who relocates to India with her husband Hanif (Rajniesh Duggall) and their four children. What begins as a picture of domestic happiness unravels when Hanif abruptly divorces her through triple talaq and prepares to remarry—cutting her off from three of their children. Refusing to accept this injustice, Saira takes her fight to court with the support of advocate Gauri (Aradhana Sharma). While the story holds the potential for a powerful exploration of faith, justice, and female strength, the screenplay remains disappointingly shallow, never delving beyond melodrama.

What could have been a powerful courtroom drama instead unfolds as a flat, uneven narrative bogged down by excessive melodrama. Shaky camerawork, choppy editing, and an overbearing background score constantly pull focus away from the emotional core of the story. Even in its most pivotal moments, the dialogues feel hollow and lack impact. While the film’s intention—to highlight women’s rights and legal injustices—is admirable, the execution feels unpolished and lacks the depth needed to truly resonate.

Saira Khan Case Trailor :-

Poonam Dubey gives a sincere but uneven performance as Saira. While she shines in certain scenes, her emotional range falters during key moments that require both vulnerability and resolve. Rajniesh Duggall brings a degree of gravitas to the role of the manipulative Hanif, while Karan Razdan and Aradhana Sharma offer competent support as the opposing lawyers. Mukesh Tyagi, as the presiding judge, delivers a calm and measured presence—something the rest of the film could have benefited more from.

Final Thought

Thematically, Saira Khan Case had the potential to be a landmark feminist film—one that challenges patriarchal norms and asserts women’s rights within a secular legal system. But instead of making a bold statement, it feels more like a missed opportunity. Despite its sincere intentions and socially important message, the film is undermined by clumsy direction and a lack of cinematic polish. In the end, it’s a well-meaning project that falters in execution. Saira Khan Case aims to champion women’s justice, but its voice is drowned out by its own missteps.
