Richa Chadha disclosed that the jewelry adorned by the actors in Heeramandi holds a value in crores. She quipped that if she were to abscond with all of it, she could finance a movie of her own.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali‘s highly anticipated debut series, Heeramandi, is now available for streaming on Netflix. While the reception to the show has been mixed among critics and audiences alike, there has been unanimous acclaim for its grand sets, elaborate costumes, and exquisite jewelry. Recently, actor Richa Chadha disclosed that all the jewelry worn by the cast in the series is authentic and worth crores of rupees.

During an interview with Sucharita Tyagi, Richa expressed her delight in being part of the show, stating, “Beautiful clothes and beautiful jewelry, all real and…” When asked if the jewelry was genuinely valuable, Richa confirmed, “Yes, all of the jewelry is real. If I were to wear it all and run away, I could finance another film of my own with the cumulative value.”

Not only the jewelry, but the extravagant costumes worn by the actors also have fascinating tales to share. Designed by Rimple-Harpreet Narula Couture, renowned for their bridal wear, the costumes add depth to the characters. The designers praised the director’s meticulous attention to detail and the grandeur of the sets. “Bhansali ji always ensured our involvement in the shoots whenever we traveled from Delhi to Mumbai. He values our contribution throughout the journey, and the final look is a culmination of everyone’s vision,” said Rimple, who has previously designed costumes for Bhansali’s Padmaavat, starring Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor, and Ranveer Singh.

Heeramandi is a period drama series depicting the lives of tawaifs in the red-light district of Heeramandi in Lahore during the Independence movement against the British Raj. The show features an ensemble cast including Manisha Koirala, Aditi Rao Hydari, Shekhar Suman, Adhyayan Suman, Fardeen Khan, and Farida Jalal, among others.
