Raid 2 Review :-

Amay Patnaik (Devgn) is a relentless force that disrupts the lives of the corrupt, becoming a thorn in the side of those who believe they can evade the law. His relentless pursuit of justice creates an engaging mix of comic tension and thrilling conflict, especially as he digs deeper into the world of privilege and deceit. The very idea of a public servant embodying both efficiency and heroism is rare, making Patnaik’s character an intriguing and refreshing watch.

In his second outing, Raj Kumar Gupta escalates the stakes of his crime drama, presenting a more grandiose tale. Amay Patnaik, now a brooding figure in sharp formals, makes an entrance worthy of a Singham-esque slow-motion scene—embodying power, clout, and undeniable presence. While he may face suspensions or transfers, Patnaik remains unyielding, always managing to hold onto his authority against all odds. Ritesh Deshmukh shines as Dadabhai, a no-nonsense, white-collared antihero. A revered philanthropist and influential political leader, he’s the quintessential prodigal son—a man who seems too good to be true. This allure leads Patnaik to dig deeper into Dadabhai’s vast empire, setting the stage for a battle of wits. The two engage in a high-stakes game of deception, but only one can emerge victorious.

Riteish Deshmukh brings a subtle yet menacing energy to his role as Dadabhai, creating a formidable and understated antagonist. He proves to be a worthy nemesis, keeping his character’s sinister nature in check. Shukla makes a brief but memorable appearance, and while his presence is sorely missed throughout, it’s hard not to feel the absence of his sharp wit and one-liners that elevated the first film. His on-screen chemistry with Devgn was a major highlight in the original, fueling much of its charm.

Set in the late 1980s, Raid 2 almost seems to be in love with its predecessor, following a familiar template so closely that it forgets to infuse its own spirit into the story. The visual of a fleet of ambassador cars speeding toward a raid becomes a recurring motif, but at a runtime of 2 hours and 20 minutes, the film starts to feel a bit weighty. The first half of the film meanders at a slow pace, but the second half picks up with the wit, energy, and thrills that the narrative needed. Unfortunately, the inclusion of songs interrupts the flow, detracting from the overall experience.

Raid 2 Trailor :-

Gupta brings back his familiar team of actors and writers, with a few notable changes. Vaani Kapoor steps in for Ileana D’Cruz, now playing Patnaik’s wife, Malini. Saurabh Shukla’s character, Tauji, takes a backseat this time, allowing Riteish Deshmukh to command the spotlight as the central antagonist. Supriya Pathak joins the cast as Dadabhai’s mother, adding a fresh dynamic to the story. Amit Sial steals the show with his performance as ‘Charan Chumbak’ Lallan Sudheer Singh, bringing a delightful comedic energy that serves as a standout in the film.

Final Thought

Ajay Devgn and his signature sunglasses exude intensity, embodying old-school heroism with undeniable swag. He also showcases impressive comic timing, leaving you wishing that aspect was explored further. The film delivers some sharp one-liners that cleverly mock sycophants and the corrupt, balancing between straightforward storytelling and classic dramatic flair. While Raid 2 stays true to its core theme, it sometimes takes itself a bit too seriously, missing opportunities to inject more fun into the mix.
