King Charles has refused Prince Harry permission to stay at Frogmore Cottage indefinitely. The cottage, meanwhile, has become a subject of contention between the monarch and Prince Andrew.
Following their withdrawal from royal duties in 2020, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex resided at the Windsor cottage briefly before permanently relocating to California with their children.
Experts suggest that King Charles’s denial of permission for Prince Harry also implies that Prince Andrew should vacate his 30-room mansion and relocate to Frogmore.
Royal expert’s statements over King Charles’ decision of property
Following the Duke of Sussex’s departure from Frogmore Cottage in 2020, author Tom Quinn unveiled the monarch’s meticulous approach to managing royal properties and making resolute decisions regarding them.
Speaking to the entertainment portal, Quinn revealed that the head of the monarchy is keen on ensuring the appropriate allocation of royal residences. This includes a directive for his brother, the Duke of York, to relocate from the opulent mansion, suggesting a move to Windsor Lodge.
Quinn remarked, “For King Charles, compelling Andrew to relocate to Frogmore addresses several issues simultaneously—it sends a clear message to Harry that, as a private individual and no longer a working royal, he is permanently barred from returning to Frogmore.”
Expounding further, Quinn added, “It communicates to Andrew that, having tarnished his reputation, he can no longer expect to maintain a lavish lifestyle.”
Tom continued, “Ultimately, it allows for a suitable grand abode to be prepared for the royals of utmost significance—William and Kate. Charles is resolute that Royal Lodge is the sole residence on the royal estate at Windsor that possesses the requisite grandeur and magnitude fitting for his successor.”
Prince Andrew’s scandal
For over a decade, the Duke of York, Prince Andrew, has remained a recurring figure in the headlines. Once again, he has been the focus of media attention in recent months due to his association with Jeffrey Epstein. The 1999 incident resurfaced online following the release of a Netflix documentary that delved into the Duke’s controversial BBC interview.
Reports indicate that Prince Andrew was implicated in sexual encounters with Virginia Giuffre, who asserted that she was trafficked by Epstein and the Duke. Prince Andrew vehemently denied these accusations.
In 2022, the legal action brought against the former royal was terminated after both parties reached a settlement agreement, the details of which remain undisclosed. However, it was purported that Queen Elizabeth stripped Prince Andrew of his royal titles after he attempted to have the case dismissed against him.
