Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba (Netflix) Review :-
Phir Aayi Haseen Dillruba shifts from the quiet town of Jwalapur to the bustling city of Agra, aiming to recapture the dark, edgy allure of its predecessor. Penned by Kanika Dhillon and directed by Jayprad Desai, the film promises a thrilling experience with its mix of suspense and intrigue. The stakes are heightened with the introduction of a formidable new antagonist and obsessive lovers. Adding to the tension, a relentless cop named Montu (Jimmy Shergill) is hot on the trail of Rani and Rishu. As Neel’s uncle, Montu has a personal vendetta, intensifying the danger for the couple.
Although the film starts with strong potential, its execution falls short as the script attempts to juggle too many elements, leading to illogical decisions and unconvincing outcomes. The narrative shifts from the captivating mystery of the original to a more conventional chase, diminishing the suspense that made the first installment engaging. The cat-and-mouse game between Rani, Rishu, and the police becomes predictable, lacking the gripping tension that Vinil Mathew’s film provided.
Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba (Netflix) Trailor :-
While the film has its moments of intrigue, the narrative often gets bogged down by unnecessary subplots and convoluted twists, including some rather melodramatic murders. The screenplay’s attempts at clever dialogue and literary references, which were a highlight of the first film’s pulpy crime novel backdrop, come off as excessive this time, diminishing the overall impact. Though the film maintains a decent pace at 132 minutes, many plot points remain unresolved. Vikrant Massey excels as Rishu, showcasing a strong character arc from the original. Taapsee Pannu brings an engaging energy to her role, though her performance lacks the subtlety of the first installment. Sunny Kaushal delivers a solid portrayal of the meek but intense Abhimanyu, and his dynamic with Pannu is compelling. Aditya Srivastav and Jimmy Shergill, despite some impactful moments, are underutilized. On a positive note, the cinematography effectively captures the essence of Agra.
Phir Aayi Haseen Dillruba is engaging and entertaining, though it falls short of being truly impressive. It boasts a stylish aesthetic and a talented cast but ultimately lacks the originality and suspense needed to fully captivate audiences. With tighter writing and more focused storytelling, it could have been a memorable sequel.
