One Hit Wonder (Netflix) Review :-
This Netflix film encourages you to dream big and pursue your passions no matter the cost. However, One Hit Wonder struggles with clarity, leaving viewers unsure whether Lorina’s dreams revolve around singing or something else entirely. While the film’s heart is clearly in the right place and its message resonates, the execution feels uneven and leaves more questions than answers.
The storytelling feels disjointed, as if different elements were pieced together without fully fitting, leaving the viewer confused. For most of the film, Lorina’s character drifts through the story seemingly without purpose. While she carries unresolved childhood trauma, it’s never truly confronted or explored. She comes across as someone running from her reality, which doesn’t make for a compelling protagonist in a film about chasing your dreams.
Additionally, the romantic storyline felt a bit too cheesy for my taste. The dialogue comes across as unnatural, lacking the genuine feel of a conversation between two young people. Several plotlines are introduced but many remain unresolved. The focus quickly shifts to the romance and its outcome, while the storyline about musical ambition feels rushed and overly simplified. It seems like Entoy gets his big break within days of meeting Lorina, and although that’s not exactly how it plays out, everything just falls into place for him far too conveniently. Even with the title One Hit Wonder, the rise to success feels surprisingly easy!
One Hit Wonder (Netflix) Trailor :-
It’s in the second half that I really started to lose patience. Lorina, uncertain about what she truly wants, gives Entoy false hope while pushing forward with her own big plans—only to leave him stranded in the end. Watching this unfold is frustrating, especially when they suddenly come back together, as if stage fright alone is enough to derail their entire relationship. On top of that, the ending didn’t quite make sense to me; it raised more questions than it answered. The conclusion felt rushed and oddly incomplete, leaving me confused.
Final Thought
I didn’t buy into One Hit Wonder’s worldbuilding, character motivations, or relationships, as everything felt formulaic and predictable. There’s nothing fresh or exciting that sparks genuine emotion, and the storytelling isn’t strong enough to breathe life into the tired plot. Ultimately, this one’s a pass for me—though it might work as a casual, one-time watch for some.
