It’s unusual to find yourself empathizing with a crime lord who has previously inflicted harm on many. Kay Kay Menon’s portrayal of Murshid Pathan is compelling, balancing vulnerability with ruthlessness. Despite the series’ overall shabbiness, Menon’s performance stands out. The central plot offers a fresh twist: Murshid returns to his violent past not for power or revenge, but to protect his son. This personal motive adds a unique angle to the genre, making the outcome engaging.

Unfortunately, the series itself feels underdeveloped. The set designs, editing, and cinematography are lacking in polish, creating a generally uneven viewing experience. Budget constraints are evident, and the lack of finesse is noticeable, especially in the background details. However, the series’ subdued approach to violence and its intriguing central conflicts provide a refreshing change. It’s rare to encounter a gangster drama where the characters avoid constant profanity and excessive gore, making it a surprisingly thoughtful watch.
