Murderbaad Review :-

Murderbaad aspires to be a layered whodunit, blending romance, mystery, and suspense. Directed by teenage debutant Arnab Chatterjee, the film follows Jaish Madnani (Nakul Roshan Sahdev), a recent migrant to Jaipur who lands a job as a tour guide—only to become a suspect when a tourist from his first group mysteriously disappears. Set against the picturesque backdrop of Jaipur and built on a premise brimming with promise, Murderbaad starts strong but ultimately stumbles under the weight of its own ambitions.

The film’s standout element is its performances. Nakul Roshan Sahdev delivers a gripping turn as Jaish, skillfully navigating the space between vulnerability and deceit. His chemistry with Kanikka Kapur (Issabelle) feels effortless, though their romantic arc at times overshadows the central thriller. Sharib Hashmi emerges as a highlight, infusing his role with both emotional depth and tension—particularly in his brief but impactful scenes with Saloni Batra. Sadly, the script underutilizes both Batra and Manish Chaudhari, whose portrayal of the investigating officer lacks the material needed to fully showcase their talent.

Visually, the film benefits from the striking contrast between Jaipur’s regal splendor and the subdued hues of West Bengal, adding a rich layer of aesthetic appeal. However, this visual promise is undercut by inconsistent camerawork—shaky frames in pivotal moments often distract rather than draw the viewer in. While the second half gains momentum with a few well-placed twists, the overall storytelling falters due to unresolved threads, foreseeable turns, and a lack of narrative precision that prevents the film from becoming the taut, compelling crime drama it aims to be.

Final Thought

Murderbaad marks an earnest debut for first-time director Arnab Chatterjee, who deserves credit for shaping a story that, despite its shortcomings, manages to hold the viewer’s interest. Yet, the film ultimately feels like a missed opportunity—an intriguing premise that needed sharper writing, tighter editing, and more narrative discipline to make a lasting impact in the crowded crime thriller genre. Still, it shows promise, and one hopes this is just the start of Chatterjee’s journey toward more confident and compelling storytelling.
