Maxton Hall - The World Between Us Season 2 (AmazonPrimeVideo) Review :-

In Prime Video’s Maxton Hall, adults exert control by bullying children and forcing them to obey. The second season centers on Ruby’s relationship with James, alongside his father’s inexplicable obsession with tormenting a young, financially struggling boy—using cruelty to prove his own sense of power and strength.

The season, unsurprisingly, ends on a cliffhanger, especially with a third season already confirmed. Despite my reservations, Maxton Hall is better structured than many of the recent underwhelming streaming shows. While it can be improbable and melodramatic at times, the series remains engaging and enjoyable, particularly for fans of YA dramas.

In this season, Ruby strives to secure a place at Oxford and achieve her family’s dreams, while James, still grappling with the loss of his mother, attempts to rebuild his life and find closure. The series is concise enough to stay entertaining without overstaying its welcome. There’s always some event or twist keeping the story moving—which is engaging, though at times it can feel a bit relentless.

The issue with this show is that it rarely lingers on any one place or emotion long enough for the audience to truly absorb it. Consequences never settle in; it’s one action after another, leaving little room to reflect on how events shape the characters. It works if you’re looking for fast-paced viewing, but it doesn’t leave much of a lasting impact.

By the end, I found myself frustrated with both the story’s direction and the behavior of the adults. None of them feel like genuinely good people, and there isn’t a single believable adult in the mix. Mortimer Beaufort, meant to be the antagonist, comes across so excessively cruel that he feels like a caricatured Disney villain. While his abusive behavior does spark some meaningful conversations about therapy, that’s about the only redeeming aspect.

Maxton Hall - The World Between Us Season 2 (AmazonPrimeVideo) Trailor :-

Beyond Mortimer, there’s Graham Sutton, a teacher involved in a relationship with his (possibly underage) student—a storyline I certainly don’t condone. The principal is a conniving figure, and while Alice Campbell initially offers a glimmer of hope, she ultimately disappoints. The only genuinely likable characters are Ruby’s family, though we don’t get to see them enough to fully appreciate their warmth.

Final Thought

Maxton Hall Season 2 works as light entertainment if you don’t dig too deep. On the surface, it’s a melodramatic YA drama that can be enjoyed as a fleeting, fun watch. However, it lacks lasting depth, especially since it rarely gives you time to fully absorb or linger on its emotions.
