Match Fixing Review :-

Directed by Kedaar Gaekwad and written by Anuj S Mehta, this political drama presents a fictionalized account inspired by real events. The film explores how powerful figures, including politicians and intelligence agencies, worked together to shape the narrative of saffron terrorism in India, sparking widespread unrest. At its core is Colonel Avinash Patwardhan (Vineet Kumar), a decorated officer who uncovers links between various terrorist attacks and bombings across the country. However, his investigation takes a dark turn when he becomes entangled in a larger conspiracy involving India’s ruling party and Pakistan.

The story has a strong conceptual foundation, aiming to connect various terrorist events into a larger conspiracy and revealing how power can manipulate narratives for political gain. It sets up an intriguing mystery by linking the dots, but the execution falls short. Though inspired by true events, the characters and incidents are well-recreated and easily recognizable. However, the film’s excessive length slows the pacing, causing parts of it to feel disengaging. While the Kashmir undercover sequence adds tension and excitement, much of the narrative feels uneven.

Avinash’s victimization loses impact as his skills and intelligence are reduced to brief montages instead of being central to the story. The screenplay attempts to balance several complex elements—political intrigue, the dynamics of Pakistani politics and the military, the workings of intelligence agencies, and the ties between terrorists and politicians. However, it struggles to weave these layers together cohesively. Subplots, like Avinash’s family life, meant to add emotional depth, feel out of place and interrupt the main narrative, affecting its flow.

Match Fixing Trailor :-

Vineet Kumar effectively portrays the courageous army officer, excelling in emotional moments, though his performance occasionally feels shallow. Anuja Sathe, despite having a brief role as his wife, delivers a solid performance. Manoj Joshi deserves recognition for his skillful portrayal of General Parvesh Musharraf, while Shataf Figar offers strong supporting performance.

Final Thought

Match Fixing had all the elements of a compelling political thriller—an intriguing premise and layered themes—but its lack of narrative cohesion and uneven execution prevent it from reaching its full potential.
